BD's Biggest.

The RockLock Screwgate Carabiner is Black Diamond's biggest biner for belaying, top rope anchors, and long-lasting durability in the climbing world. Black Diamond designed this locker with a keylock nose for snag-free unclipping, a curved spine for a larger gate opening, and a square hinge to hold your belay device in place.

Great multi use biner

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love these biners, they work great for rigging, belaying, hammocks, you name it.

Great value

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have quite a few of these because they are durable and affordable. I use them as my go to for setting up top rope for climbing, rappels for canyoneering, belay devices and other odds and ends with my activities. You definitely can't wrong with these and for the price you can bulk up your supplies.

Burly for belaying and anchor building

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My favorite biner for belaying or for toprope- the large diameter of the metal ensures smooth rope movement with less drag. Two of these make an excellent top rope setup attached to the anchor. Not the best for trad, as they are a little heavy. I prefer the Petzl Attache or other similar lightweight locker. But for single pitch sport, top rope, or gym climbing, this is my favorite.

Solid Biner

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Works great for belaying as well as for some anchor building, everything you would expect from black diamond.

Best Belay Biner

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This carabiner compliments any ATC so well. They are big and durable which allows them to outlast much rope drag. I also really like how they are round, smooth, and easy with the rope. It is reassuring to know that when there is a lot of tension on the rope held by the carabiner that it is not harming the rope in any way. I have one of these for every ATC that I have and I have not had any regrets.

No doubts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been using Black Diamond carabiners for years. Love this carabiner. The screwgate is easy to use, and leaves me feeling confident.

It works.. but I hate the screwgate

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The biner itself is sturdy and large, but the screw motion of the gate feels cheap and poor. If you've touched a screw gate on a Petzyl, they feel great--tight, smooth, clean, and secure. The Rocklock feels cheap and inaccurate and displeasurable. I'd recommend the Petzl Attache or Wiliams Locker over this one. Still a great locker that will do the job, though. But I won't be buying more.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Biner is exactly what I expected, nothing fancy but works great. The screwgate is very smooth and easy to operate.

Great Gear

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Like everything Black Diamond produces, their climbing hardware is among the very best. Reliable and durable in the coldest of cold climates. BD is my go-to for hardgood gear!

Beefy Biner

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My favorite biner for belaying and rapping because it can take so much rope wear because of how solid and thick it is.

Love This Locker

The size of this thing is awesome. Its my favorite locker, durable, consistent, good hand feel.

This is so big and strong that there is no reason to worry about it breaking!

      Rock solid

I use this to attach my belay devices to my harness, works great and feels solid

Can't go wrong with this oversized locking carabiner, it gets the job done.

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great heavy locking carabiner but not too heavy

These have become my go to for building TR anchors. They're stout, sturdy, on the heavy side but appropriate for the job. When I asked a guide I took classes with what to buy, these are what he uses and recommended.

            Good Aluminum Screwgate

            • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This carabiner works great for anchor building, rigging, belaying, and pretty much any use you would have for a locking carabiner. It is not the lightest aluminum carabiner out there, but for most cases the weight does not even matter. While not as strong as a steel carabiner, I would still recommend this carabiner for many rigging applications and attaching gear to your main attachment point. The wide basket and gate opening allow for many strands of rope/prusik cord/webbing to passed through it.

            For Belaying

I bought this for belaying indoors and it's been great.
