A do-it-all shell for resort laps and backountry lines.
You go where the snow is deep and stable, so that means you need a pair of pants that will withstand everything from tram runs to yo-yo laps in the backcountry. The Black Diamond Women's Mission Pants will give you the waterproof, breathable protection you need to milk the most vert from your day thanks to a three-layer Gore-Tex shell, fully taped seams, and a DWR treated face fabric that resists moisture and wear from hot laps in bounds to bushwhacks in the backcountry.
The fit is designed for technical layering, while a soft, brushed backer keeps them soft and smooth against your baselayers and helps to eliminate the swoosh from your step whether you're gliding up the skintrack or hoofing it up the bootpack. Offset outer thigh vents offer a good amount of ventilation when you are on the move, and a single lower leg zip can be opened up for easy access to boot buckles. Internal boot gaiters form a snow-tight seal around boots, while a reinforced kick patch protects the pants against ski edges and crampon points. Unique to the Mission Pants is a dedicated beacon pocket with a protective Poron XRD impact foam to protect your transceiver, as well as an internal harness that keeps the beacon close when conducting a search. For added safety inbounds, the Missions are equipped with a built-in Recco reflector that may help Recco-equipped ski patrols locate you in the event of an emergency.

I've been looking for a ski pant that fits me in the waist, is a bit more high waisted and found these and bought them. The waist fit great and I was excited to get them out for a backcountry skin/ski and that's where everything changed for me. There was so much fabric in the leg that I looked like I have elephant legs from the hip down, however, the deciding factor to return them is because I was trying to adjust my boot to ski down and realized the gaitor does not open up but is a complete enclosed circle that you have to stretch up and down over the boot along with the zipper opening but NO way to get over a boot once the pants are on. Sorry, but they're going back and I cannot recommend them for the functional reasons and the fact they make you look so fat in the legs.
Great pants, bad sizing

Ordered these after doing a ton of research, but it was hard to find detailed reviews. I am 5'7" and about 155lbs, I would say that I have a very athletic build. I ordered the medium. I thought that the fit around the thighs was great, but they were really baggy in the lower leg, and ridiculously tight in the butt/crotch. Great material, nice pockets, but they didn't work for me. If you have a flatter butt and shorter hips they might be great pants for you. The Peips pocket wasn't as weird as I thought it would be, and I could actually see myself liking it, but the padding was minimal enough that if you didn't use it for your beacon you would hardly notice it. The only other complaint that I have is that the zipper on the lower leg doesn't go all the way down through the cuff, and the built in gaiter is pretty minimal with no adjustment options. That being said if the fit worked for my body I would have loved to have held on to these pants.
