Pack all your backcountry gear in Black Diamond's Dawn Patrol 32 Backpack the night before so you don't accidentally pack a Hawaiian shirt instead of an extra midlayer due to a sleepy daze. Prime for early morning backcountry excursions, the Dawn Patrol backpack boasts an active, form-fitting suspension that moves with you when you're booking it back to the car so you aren't late for work.
The Dawn Patrol carries snowboards vertically and skis diagonally or in an A-frame during bootpacks. A separate compartment stows avalanche safety gear, and the helmet carry tucks away during the descent. Black Diamond designed this pack with back panel access so you can grab gear with skis attached to the pack. The insulated hydration sleeve and port protect your reservoir's water from freezing in low temps.

This bag is NOT a true 32L
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Bought this bag as a day pack for ski touring to replace an old osprey pack that I had used forever but wasn't designed for skiing. This bag is listed as 32L but the bag it replaced was 33L and this bag doesn't hold nearly as much gear. If all you want this bag for is resort & sidecountry skiing, this would be an OK size, but don't buy if you plan on doing all-day tours as this will not hold all the gear you need comfortably. I also have a BCA float 32 bag that I use on high avy days and that bag carries 32L worth of gear much more effectively. TL;DR - Don't buy this bag if you think you actually need 32L of space.

Just OK
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I like the styling and colors. But I find some of the functionality to be clumsy. Really hard to load and unload hydration reservoir. Pain to thread hose into shoulder strap. And even difficult to get reservoir hung in pack. Backpanel zippers constantly get hung up on fabric. Pack doesn't have much structure, which is probably good tradeoff to save weight. But generally hard to load stuff or put avy rescue gear in. Helmet carry works well. This is an upgrade from the old BCA pack I was replacing. Chest strap difficult to buckle. Overall, pretty disappointed. Replace stuff like this every 10 years or so. Frustrating enough that I'll probably give it away and try something from Patagonia instead.

showed up without AvaLung Ready Tabs
Ordered this pack for my Fiancee. It showed up without AvaLung attachment points. Backcountry sent a replacement and that one also showed up without AvaLung attachments...Not sure why or how or if its a model year issue or BD quality assurance issue but yea, no bueno! asside from that, the backpack itself is righteous!
