Access the inaccessible.
Don't let a little inclement weather (or at least the threat of it) get your goat. Instead, reach for the Black Diamond Women's Access Hooded Insulated Jacket and carry on with your time spent in the high alpine. Designed specifically for the unpredictable nature of an alpine climate, the Access features an adaptive, versatile construction that's highly packable. This design allows you to toss it into your pack when it's not in use or deploy it at a moment's notice.
To achieve such a feat, the Access is constructed with Pertex Microlight which is equal parts breathable, lightweight, and durable. A DWR treatment fends off light precipitation and moisture, bolstering your defense against the elements. Additionally, the Schoeller underarm panels are stretchy to assure unobstructed overhead dexterity as you climb, hike, or make your way up the skintrack. Meanwhile, the Primaloft Gold insulation features a strategic, body-mapped design that's innately migration-resistant. This insulation itself not only touts a high warmth-to-weight ratio, but assures steadfast heat even when wet. The harness-compatible pockets and zippers enable you to keep small necessities close at hand, and the helmet-compatible hood allows you to double down on your protection should the weather require it.

Not for biceps!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I really wanted this jacket to work for ice climbing. There is only one problem - the tiny-caliber sleeves! I have moderately big biceps - not huge - and even the XL was squeezed tight around them. The men's sleeves are much bigger around, but the arms are too long for me. . . Oh well. If you have skinny arms, go for it, it's otherwise awesome. If you have bulging biceps, be warned.
I think I need one too!
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: small
I bought this for a friend because hers was stolen but I tried it on before I gave it to her. Now I want one too! It's super light but super warm. The material feels amazing and the insulation is cozy. It's super high quality but also very flattering, I love the fit.
favorite climbing/ spring jacket
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Perfect for those cooler mornings and evenings when you need a little extra warmth. Loved the bottom zipper so that I could belay with my jacket on. As usual I sized up for black diamond. I am short and curvy ( small on the top and medium on the bottom) even though the top part of the jacket is a bit spacious in the shoulders, the bottom fits nicely around my hips.
