Better than a bed of pine boughs.

You could go all survivalist and sleep on branches, wipe with pine cones, and eat small grubs and berries you find along the trail, but you'd have a more enjoyable time out in the mountains if you slept comfortably in the Big Agnes Husted 20-Degree Synthetic Sleeping Bag. You might also want to pick up a few bites of actual food and pamper yourself with some good ol' two-ply.

Now, the Husted may not be as nice as that king bed you're lounging on as you read this, but it's a helluva lot more comfortable than that futon you slept on back in college. Big Agnes packed it full of synthetic insulation, which means the bag can get a little wet without becoming completely useless, and it sports a traditional mummy shape for thermal efficiency and light weight for those longer backpacking trips. .

Long Version - Great Product

I bought the long version of this sleeping bag for my partner, he's 6'5" with paddlers shoulders. I have to say, I was nervous about ordering this due to the detailed 1 star review; I wouldn't listen to it. My partner goes on 1-2 month canoe trips in the high Canadian north (within the Arctic circle at times) and he was using a *very* old Big Agnes for these trips. He is over the moon about this sleeping bag. He has plenty of room to move around and "roll over", there's room for his shoulders and the 'hood' of the bag has plenty of room as well. The draft tube surrounding the zipper does indeed move, but it seems like it's for convenience, so you can actually zip and unzip the thing, it's easily put into place and stays there once you've settled in.

The only thing I'll mention is the stuff sack is pretty worthless if you're really trying to maximize packing space...just use a compression sack.

What does the "20-degree comfort rating" mean, as opposed to extreme and survival ratings.

Comfort rating is the temperature at which the company deems the bag to provide comfortable warmth. Extreme and survival rating would both be lower.

    Don't roll over

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This bag is quite disappointing, which maybe shouldn't be surprising given the low price. I ordered the Husted instead of the women's to have a little more space. It turns out it was still too small and the fabric on the inside, while soft, is very grabby and pulls with you as you turn over. Woke up every morning of a 10 day trip in a tangled mess. No shoulder space whatsoever, I do not see how someone over 5'5" could fit in this bag comfortably. Ended up wearing my puffy and using it as a blanket instead of zipping up the last two nights. Also, the zipper flap on the inside does not stay put so the zipper leaks cold air constantly. I would recommend a different synthetic bag. This one is going to be for my pup in the car this winter.

    Big Agnes Traditional Synthetic Mummy

A take anywhere, sleep well every time sleeping bag that is insulated all around with a cozy fill and a roomier mummy shape than a traditional design. Lightweight enough to stuff in your pack for summer backpacking but comfortable enough for backyard campouts with the kids. This bag is versatile and so comfortable you'll want to take it on every outing.

Does this bag really compress to 8 x 10 inches? Does the stuff sack provided allow it to compress this small?

    Hey there Kimberly!

This bag does compress down to 8x10in the bottom is not insulated since it is made to be used with a sleeping pad!

It does not include a compression sack so you would want to purchase one of those as well. It does come with a stuff sack which is ideal to store it for a long period of time! Let me know if you have any other questions about this bag or give me a call at 801.204.4660 for some help picking out a compression sack!

Warm i should buy another one.
