    Welcome to the big house.

While it might not be the lightest tent on the market, the Big Agnes Big House Deluxe 4 Tent is definitely one of the most spacious. From weekend getaways to Fruita with your mountain biking crew, to checking off national parks across the states with your family, the Big House 4 delivers protection from the elements and ample space to keep you comfortable in the outdoors. And not only does this tent offer plenty of space for you and friends to sprawl out, but it also has an extra-tall profile to give you some head space for stretching or putting on a new change of clothes.

Since this tent does have a higher profile, Big Agnes recommends staking out all the stake-out points and guylines for stability in blustery conditions. A huge optional vestibule (sold separately) gives you plenty of space to stash gear and creates a place to hang out when less-than-ideal weather stikes, while a welcome mat at the front door gives everyone a space to wipe off their muddy shoes to keep the interior neat and tidy.

    • Spacious shelter for the family in the great outdoors
    • PU-coated fly and floor protect against rain and wet grounds
    • Tall profile provides extra room for stretching
    • Color-coded grommet webbing and buckles make pitching easy
    • 12 mesh interior pockets for ample organization
    • Reflective guylines increase visibility at dusk and dawn
    • Briefcase-style carrying case makes for easy transport
    • Big Agnes finds inspiration for its products in its Colorado surroundings

    For The Whole Gang

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I took this tent up into the Uintas with 3 of my friends and 3 dogs! It really is a "big house"! It was the perfect size for the 4 of us and we could have squeezed in another. This would be a great tent for camping with your family. It was really easy to set up, however you will need a buddy to help. It only has two tent poles, but they are SUPER long. I also really appreciated how the storage bag is so organized and neat. Overall a great tent for camping with a large group.

    For The Whole Gang

    Room for 4 and more

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Four of us used this tent and made a huge mess of it, with all our gear. But, we still had space to sleep and be very unorganized. So, that was a plus! It was really comfortable to sit up in. It was just a little too short for me to stand, at 5'8, but I could still move around without having to bend too much.

The integrated door mats are so awesome! A huge plus.

I noticed in the morning that it did ventilate well, once the sun came out, and never felt stuffy. It was very easy to set up, and also packs down a lot smaller than I expected. I don't car camp often, but would gladly have this tent.

    Very spacious

This tent was surprisingly easy to set up given its size. It took less than 5 minutes to get it set up. I’m 5’6” and was able to stand in it with a few inches to spare. Two of the walls offered a lot of storage options. This tent made car camping super convenient and comfortable. I haven’t had the chance to try it out in rain but it withheld moderate winds with no issues. The storage bag held everything nicely and everything fit in easily, unlike some other tents where you struggle to get the tent in.

      Car camping game changer

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So. I have always been into technical gear. Mountain bikes, snowboards, backpacking. So, I have always done my camping in lightweight backpacking tents regardless of the situation or location. I scoffed at "car camping" tents for their bulk, weight, and general non-technical materials. I am here to tell you I am a changed human after using this tent.
In the Winter/Spring and fall a lot of us mountain bikers climbers and dirtbags head into the desert to do whatever it is we do best and it usually involves a bunch of gear, wild temp swings, and friends as well as dogs. Well unless you want to set up a North Face base camp tent this is our desert activities base camp choice. It all fits, you can change without looking like a silkworm, you can invite friends into the tent if the weather sours.
This tent blends technical fabrics with a simple design. No, the rain fly does not extend to the ground, but when you guy it out I have had no issues with water getting into the tent.
Don't car camp without a car camping tent anymore - it's not worth it. (period). Pair this with an Exped megamat or something else you think is indulgently comfortable and you don't have to sacrifice any sleeps on your next trip. Now if you want to talk ultralight bike packing I can give you the details on small and light...

      Things I love:
      -Straightforward setup
-Entryway welcome mat - I hate shoes in the tent.
-Storage and carrying bag - now need to make it fit like Cinderellas sisters and the glass slipper
Interior tent storage - pockets and mesh shelves galore.
I can stand up in a tent - OMG!

As I said, I'm a convert. Quadruple thumbs up!

      Roomy!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I got to use this on a recent trip to Moab. First thing i noticed on this was the height. At 6' tall I had plenty of room to stand up to change or set up my sleeping system. Easy setup with lots of great pockets for keeping your stuff organized. It also has some thoughtful features like a entry mat for putting on and taking off shoes, great for keeping sand out of the tent in the desert.

      Room away from home

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

For years I have been using backpacking tents for my car camping missions. The features that make them nice for backpacking or bike packing are great but when you are driving to your destination and car camping a small lightweight tent is not always the answer.

I took this tent down to Moab over the weekend for a bike trip and I am a car camping tent convert. For starters, you can not only sit up in this tent you can stand! At 6' tall being able to move around without that old tent crouch is amazing! Tons of ventilation and storage options are very usable. My favorite feature was the 2 corning pocket/shelves for phones, speakers and books which were all used during the trip. The integrated welcome matt seemed gimmicky but proved to be really functional. Set up was very easy with 2 robust poles and an additional archway for the fly which covers the vented portions of the tent.

This tent paired with the add on vestibule would be true glamping accommodations!

Nice big tent for sheltering the fam at the car camp site. I wouldn't suggest hauling it very far in a backpack, but it will keep you and the kids warm and dry.

      Roomy Dream Tent!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Though not technically a backpacking tent, my group decided to bring this tent out to the Backcountry for a night of hot spring camping! It was easy to set up, and had a very fun little attached welcome mat! Once inside there was so much room we were astonished! We lit the whole thing with one lamp, and had a great time playing cards and sleeping in the chilly Utah mountains!

We did get a little cold, but were using it in 30 degree weather. So anything warmer then that you should be fine!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent checks all of the right boxes when it comes to an ultimate car camping tent. Storage in spades, the ability to stand up to change, light-weight and it takes up very little space when packed away.
Set up is a breeze. I've had this tent out once for a long weekend in the desert where low temps hovered around 30F. This tent was cozy, breathable, and warm without any noteworthy condensation.

      Welcome to my house.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is THE car camping tent! The pockets inside are 10/10 useful. Set up and take down is easy, I set it up by myself no problem. This tent withstood an all night desert rain storm easy. I am 5' 4" and can stand up straight with room above my head. It is the perfect festival tent.

      Spacious

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

There are a lot of tents in this market. Where Big Agnes separates from the pack is all the extra's that are included. I love the gear storage areas that are awesome for all of your families, books, phones, watches, cameras, etc. The included door mat works well when waking up or going to bed with moist environments. The two doors are perfect for 4 people. the tent vents well and the tall nearly vertical side walls allows everyone inside to stand up.

      Highly recommend!

      Girls trip!

I took the Big House 4 out for a girls camping trip so we could all sleep in the same tent and it was perfect! Not only was there plenty of space for us all sleeping in the same direction, we could all stand which is a luxury I am not used to compared to my smaller 2-person tent I usually use. Because it was so cold, the standing height was actually very convenient when changing into warmer clothes. There is plenty of hammock pockets for hanging gear which I really like so I don't lose my headlamp in the middle of the night.

The set up was super easy because there is only 2 main poles, so we were able to get the tent up in minutes.

        Highly recommend for larger parties!

          Great for the family.

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This tent is awesome for the family of 3 and a dog. It's big enough for a large air mattress. Has plenty of pockets for books, hats, gloves and whatever else you need to store. The corner tables are great for water bottles.
We added the vestibule for some extra room and couldn't be happier with it.
Not sure if it's the yellow color or where we were camped but it did seem to attract some bees.
Lucky for us it didn't rain on our trip but we are a little concerned about the water problem after reading the previous review. I'm sure we'll have a chance to play in the rain sometime soon and we'll update with our findings.
          Happy tenting.

          Comfort meets the elements

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my go-to tent when car camping with the significant other and our dog. The Big House is packed with awesome features, but I personally love the ability to fully stand inside the tent and all of the mesh storage pockets (12 in total). The mesh pockets allow me to always keep track of my smaller items, which always seem to be lost in my backpacking tent. This tent is not only comfortable, but also sound in the worst weather. I recently took this to Fruita, CO over a weekend. The first half of our Saturday, the weather took a turn for the worse and started dumping rain for multiple hours. We stayed dry and there was no pooling in the tent.

Also, the amount of accessories for this tent that you can pick up are ridiculous!

My one complaint is that the tent doesn't have a vestibule, but Big Agnes thought of that and you can purchase one separately!

          Doesn't provide waterproof protection

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I tried out this tent recently, and was very disappointed with its weather resistance. In the rain, water came in from the top, and the bottom. The floor is just a thin nylon, so even with a footprint, it soaked through. The ceiling has the fly touching the poles and tent, and at those places in particular, the water dripped through. We liked the size and ease of set up, so were very disappointed that it didn't do well in the rain. We also felt that the low mesh on the sides let a draft come across our heads in the cool weather, which made it feel even colder in the tent. We only used it this once and then returned it because of the water in the tent.

          Car Camping Dream!

We brought the Big House along with us on our two week road trip and it was the best decision. Set up and take down was simple. It was just two of us and our dog and it had the perfect amount of space with our bags. I would recommend this for car camping, festivals or even on a short hike.
