Sweet!

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Nice size and smooth fold but I returned it for another Benchmade knife. The Tanto.

Does this knife have a button for it to open up quickly or is it more of a manual function like a swiss army knife?

Hey Karisa,

This is not a switchblade, you need to manually open it. I'm fairly certain knives like you're describing are illegal most places these days.

Never I bad choice

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

There are a ton of options on the market and you can never go wrong with Benchmade. I was looking for a nice everyday folding knife and bought this to check it out. I could return if I didn't like it. Hah. Never did that, love this knife. The handle feels nice, the blade is awesome and the locking mechanism is easy to use and effective. Enjoy this knife, fits in your pocket really nice as well.

Solid knife

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This knife is relatively light and has an easy deployment mechanism. The belt trap comes in handy for attaching to clothing or packs or bikes.

Amazing Knife To Own!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This BENCHMADE 556 GRIPTILLIAN knife is the best ,most reliable knife I've ever came across! I've had my BENCHMADE now for almost 10 years and it still works as if it was just purchased. Best decision I've ever made !

Amazing Knife To Own!!

Benchmade all around quality

Having served 16 years honorably in the Corps Raider Bn, I’ve used Benchmade and Emerson knives exclusively without any complaints or malfunctions. At times carried a fixed and 2 folders. Never was I without a edged weapon for utility or defense. Great products that I highly recommend. Semper Fi

    Perfect

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I always take this with me. Small enough to fit in your pocket. Perfect for camping. Super lightweight and dependable. I would recommend the combo edge.

    Great knife

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is precisely what I was looking for in a blade. It's compact, lightweight design makes it ideal for every day use.

    Good knife

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a good sized knife for an everyday pocket carry. I called benchmade and asked about a deep carry clip and they sent one right away. It allows for the knife to sit deep enough to not be seen in your pocket. It holds an edge really well, opens and closes with one hand.

    Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian Knife

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my sidekick for every backpacking and car camping trip I go on. I've had it for a little over 6 months now and it continues to function wonderfully. No complaints. Highly recommend.

    the best/most useful knife around

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This little guy is perfect. From cutting paracord in the backcountry to slicing open an avocado at the beach, this knife does it all and does it well. The just under 3in blade is an ideal size to carry everywhere. I like the double edge combo because it offers more versatility for cutting/ sawing. The lock out function is great and easy to open w/o feeling like you are going to chop your fingers off. Grip is sturdy and comfortable to hold even with sweaty hands. At just under 3oz in weight, this is the perfect do-it-all knife. I am constantly transferring it from my backpack to daypack to work bag to purse (is that weird?). Never know when you are going to need to slice and apple or pull some 127 hours stuff (hopefully never). BUY THIS.

    Best EDC I've owned...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought one I Alaska almost 5 years ago. It has survived climbing, camping, bike packing, landscaping, weekend honey-do lists. I bought one for my mom this mother's day. I will want her well equipped. Great knife.

    Awesome

This little knife has been great to have while camping. Small and compact which is great for having in your pocket. It's been great so far!

      Solid daily pocket knife

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I loved this knife, but lost it when biking. The clip is the only problem, cannot hold the knife well in my jeans pocket at some positions. Actually that how I lost it. Though, I really loved it and just ordered another one from backcountry.

      Great EDC knife

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I realized recently my 10 year old knife I kept with me all the time was just worn out and it was time for a new one. After asking around and reading on the internet, I came to the conclusion that Benchmade was the way to go. Boy am I glad I listened.

Perfect size for an every day carry knife, not too big, not too small. Blade comes VERY sharp out of the box, and I've used it even to cut thin steel wire and tough plastic with no dulling of the blade. The release mechanism is a little tight when the knife is brand new, but it loosens up just enough after a couple weeks of use.

No play or shaking between the blade and the body, and everything seems super high quality. My only nitpick is I'm not crazy about the position of the clip, makes it a bit tough to get it out of the pocket, and I've tried both positions. Overall, would recommend to anyone looking for a durable every day pocket knife

      Knife for Life

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This knife is never far from my person. Some girls like jewelry as an accessory... I like my knife. It is so handy and I use it constantly at work (I work in the retail store where there are millions of boxes). It's the perfect size for me and i'm glad I went with the mini vs. the full size. It's the perfect size to fit in your pocket and yet it still packs a punch and will definitely get the job done. I would definitely recommend this knife!

      A Grip of Function

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have heard about benchmade knives for years and finally have one of my own. The quality of this knife is amazing for the price, arriving sharp as a dagger out of the box. The size of this is perfect of an everyday-carry knife, and the locking blade makes this great for a variety of purposes. If you have the tool you are able to change which side the clip is on. And then there is the life-time warranty in case it breaks or you need to have the edge sharpened. Overall a great knife for every-day use and carry.

      A Grip of Function

      Great Knife

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Buy one....great EDC knife. Unfortunately, I left mine at the climbing gym and the person who found it decided, "hey, not my knife...guess I'll keep it".

      Best knife I have

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The first thing I want to say is that the AXIS locking system is probably the smoothest system. Its unbelievable.

I don't need to speak about build quality and knife steel, because let's face it, it's a Benchmade. They make great knives, although they are expensive.

As for size: It does feel small in the hand, and it is a smaller knife, but the blade length is great for everyday tasks and the size of the knife makes it suitable for every day carry.

I really do recommend this knife, although I'd wait until it's on-sale. (It does happen!)

      Great knife!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I received this knife as a gift and loved it so much that I bought one for my girlfriend almost 2 years later. I've taken the knife on several multi-day backpacking trips and it's my go-to blade. It's small enough to comfortably fit in your pocket, but the handle is still sufficient to get a solid grip on it quickly and easily.

Some other reviewers have mentioned difficulty with a one-handed open or close of this knife - I have had no such problem. Like any new toy, it takes a few times practicing to get it just right, but I can one-hand open or close this knife in my sleep without ever missing.

The colors are great too. Mine is the dark army green with the black blade and the one I bought for my girlfriend is turquoise-blue with the silver blade. Both have the combination blade, which I recommend. The pictures are true to the color.

Overall, this is a great, sturdy knife that looks sharp and stays sharp.
