Basin & Range pretty flipping good

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I've got to say that so far the Basin & Range products have really impressed me at the price point. I've always liked pull over fleeces and jackets and when I saw this one at 800 fill and a stupid price of $75 I decided to try it. I'm really pleased with the quality and although I haven't put it through the paces quite yet, I'm happy with the purchase.

As far as Pullovers go, good luck finding an 800 fill power / weight ratio at this baby under 250 bucks. 150 bucks is a steal. The pullover is soft, smooth, lofty and light. It packs small and doesn't look boxy. I bought a large as I am 5'11 185lbs. Definitely fits well leaving some room for layering as you also want some room to pull on and off. To me I preferred the Pullover vs the Zip-up, for 2 reasons. Heat efficiency and styling. The Zip-up version looks like a Mom-Jacket meets the Micheline Man IMO.

Miscellaneous Noteworthy Details:
The wrists have elastic to prevent drafting. The pockets have a coinholder on the inside. The headphone guide is cool as it is placed below the right collar to prevent snagging when feeding down to your phone or player. The ripcord helps prevent heat loss at the waist. Pockets are deeper than expected.

Dislikes: Wish they had more color ways. As I like the Duo-color but feels like its harder to match with multiple clothes, so i went with black.

It's 15-30 degrees here in NYC and I feel toasty wearing it over 1 long sleeve shirt. It does feel more like urban wear than outdoorsy which is perfect for me. When in the city, you want something that looks nice to wear in restaurants or bars and doesn't look like you are a backpacker from the Midwest, if that makes any sense, no offense to the Midwest. Get it while it's around at the price.

What is the total weight of this jacket. Size large would be nice but size medium would work. Thanks!

I received this jacket from Basin and Range a few weeks ago and it has been my go to ever since. The jacket itself is super comfortable, warm, and uniquely stylish for a down jacket. I'd recommend this item to anyone who is looking for the middle ground between technical and stylish gear.

The fill on this jacket is outstanding - super lofty, really warm, and the fit is great!

I've always been a fan of the pull-over, anorak, style and this thing fits great! Its not too wide in the middle and it has a great fit in the arms.

It packs decently small, not as small as some packable down jackets, but I really like this jacket because I can wear it both as a mid layer skiing - but also as an all around winter "keep me toasty" jacket.

It also features a half zip on one side, so if it does get too hot you can vent a bit without having to take it off! - it also makes it much easier to get on and off if you have the zip open.

Super stoked on this jacket!
