From morning coffee to mountain walks.

You know that a solid day in the mountains is in store when you spot mule deer grazing in your backyard as your sip your morning coffee, and it's only going to get better when you suit up in your Basin and Range Men's Storm Mountain Shorts to take a relaxing mid-day walk before you meet the boys for burgers and beers in the afternoon. The Storm's stout fabric combines the comfortable feel of cotton with the durability of nylon and just a touch of stretch to keep your legs mobile when you're on the move. Meanwhile, the hand and back patch pockets offer plenty of space to keep a money clip and phone close at hand.

Comfortable and Durable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I'm really picky about shorts and these tick all of the boxes. Comfy, durable, and dry quickly if you get caught in a storm or decide to use them as swim trunks. Great for hiking and any other short-wearing activities.

Really enjoy the design.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Would definitely recommend trying these out.

My fam guys love them!!

First my husband got em, then his brother asked for them, then my dad...they're quick to dry, long, regular fit, breathable, and light weight. Those seem to be the highlights that my family guys are raving about.

Great climbing/casual short

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 30

I have been climbing in these shorts for the past couple of months and love them. They have good stretch and are very durable. I have even gone to several yoga classes in them and they work great. Even though almost every other pair of shorts or pants I have at size 30 fits well, these are a bit tight (I still wear the 30 though). They also look great just for going out to the beach or wherever in Fl. Overall they are great

Hubby loves his Storm Mt Shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 36

Bought these as a gift for my hubby who is 5' 11" and weighs 190 lbs - normally wears 36, ordered a 36 and they fit true to industry sizing. He particularly loves the length and the fit - they rest right above his knee and they're not slim or baggy, just like they say they fit which is regular; they're also stretchy so they flex well with bending and moving around. They're extremely light weight and breathe well, and the charcoal looks exactly as it's pictured above. All in all, he considers them one of his favorites.

Clean and classic summer staple.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Size 30 waist

Perfect shorts for lounging around backyard barbecues, hiking up the canyon, or cruising around town in search of good times. They're tough, soft-wearing, and a bit stretchy, making them ideally suited for a wide range of outdoor and city-slicking activities alike. Not much else to say, except they're rad and you'll keep them in constant rotation during summer weather.

Purchased as a Gift - True to Size

Purchased as a gift, and, it fit true to size. Great buy.

    Good, with sizing caveat

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34

These just came in the mail. The fabric is wonderful; sort of like the Patagonia Tenpenny, but less crinkly. I have short legs (30" inseam), and these come to just about knee length which is fine. My only issue with these is the waist sizing, which is a deal breaker. I typically wear a 33", but these only come in 32/34. The 34 is too big, and I'm afraid the 32 would be too small.

Any chance these or other Basin/Range stuff will ever be made in the odd sizes?

    Great pair of shorts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34 waist size

Purchased these shorts because I'm a fan of the Stretch Zion short from Prana and I wanted to give them a go. I actually ended up liking the Storm Mountain short better! The fabric is a little more durable and the fit was a little less baggy which was a bonus. I'm 6'1 with a ~32 inseam and went with the 34 waist size. Fit great, you can bring them camping and get dirt all over them, scrape them on rocks, and then they wash out like new.

    Great do it all shorts

I just took these shorts for a weekend in Central Oregon. I wore them the whole time - camping, rock climbing, mountain biking, eating out... Tough material, looks good and fits well. I'm about to order them in dark khaki color as well.
