I have an older generation of this coat
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs small
- Size Bought: Large
And I'm obsessed with it. I've had it for a few years and given it a lot of use, wearing it pretty much daily around town during Baltimore city winters. It definitely gets the job done, keeping me warm and dry while also looking sleek.
I picked this jacket for the faux fur lined hood and the unique style (loved that it comes in gray, not black), and was not disappointed - I get tons of compliments on it. Some other features I like: the fur lining on the hood is removable if that's not your jam; the super spacious exterior pockets (they fit my phone and wallet, so often no need to carry a purse); the longer thigh length; and the storm cuffs for keeping the cold out of the sleeves.
The few things that I found annoying about the older version of this coat, seem to have been fixed in this version! I found the hood to be annoyingly large, and it would fall down in my face/obstruct my view. It looks as if they've added a cinch, which would definitely solve that problem. I also didn't love how the lower pockets had a flap/snap closure because it made it more difficult to tuck my hands in—another problem they solved.
I do find that the jacket runs a little narrow through the hips, but unzipping the bottom a bit to increase range of motion definitely helps if you need to walk more quickly/take longer strides. I think the older version has an adjustable waist cinch to also help with the fit, but it seems that may have been eliminated here. If you're iffy or in-between sizes, I'd recommend sizing up to more comfortably fit thicker winter clothes underneath.
All in all, you really can't go wrong with this jacket!!
