Basin and Range Iron Mountain Pant - Men's

Pair with the best kind of days.

When your ideal day consists of rolling mountain trails and sprawling summit views chased by a round of tasty micro brews, then the Basin and Range Men's Iron Mountain Pants are for you. Based out of Park City, Utah, Basin and Range's clothing is designed and built for the mountain lifestyle, and the Iron Mountains are no exception. They're made with a blend of cotton and nylon, making them comfortable enough for around town wear and rugged enough to deal with the wear and tear only a day in the mountains can deliver. A gusseted crotch keeps your legs moving freely, while pockets along the front, back, and side of the pants offer plenty storage space for everything you need for a quick afternoon hike or an evening downtown.

Softest Iron Mountain Pants

Bought these pants and took the to indian creek for a week of climbing. I was very disappointed with having bought them. They aren't build tough enough to be called "Iron Mountain Pants". They got bruised WAY more than the other pair of pants I took with me. Coming back home, threw them in the washer machine and colours started fading. Why did I buy these?

    Stealthy good

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34/32

I took a chance on a few Basin & Range pieces on a sale, and 2 of the 3 (including these pants) really impressed me. The fabric is a light but strong weight, sewing looks good, and the fit is excellent -- better than many Levi's for example, which I found can vary widely, as can MK. (So maybe I just got lucky with a sample size of 1.) The color is just this side of too loud, and laundering may tone things down a bit. Finally, I like the low-logo approach. It's very tasteful, basically invisible. I hope Backcountry doesn't bail on the concept because the design and execution are excellent.

    Off sizing

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Size Bought: 30x32

I got these on steep and cheap for a song… in my normal size, 30x32. When I got them the waist was at least 32" (before washing) and the fit was baggy. The material was nice and I dig the color, but I had to return them. Being 70% cotton they might have shrunk a little, but I would not have been able to return them, so I didn't want to take the risk. Kind of bummed out because I also got two of their jackets that fit perfectly.

5 Stars for Potential - Not perfect YET!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 34x32

Alright... I need more of these. I have my fingers crossed so hard it hurts for them to make these in more colors. They are a FANTASTIC design with the right side pocket, and the material is wildly comfortable. BUT! they need to taper the legs... At least a little more. In the images above, the thighs look kind of slim (theyre not), and the lower part of the legs looks like bell bottoms (also misleading). They are just pretty wide and straight all the way down and would be substantially improved with a more fitted cut. Anyway, they are the greatest.

Fantastic Pants that look slimmer online

Great pair of pants, love the feel as I've worn them around. Light but durable material, easy and relaxed fit. Thought they'd be slimmer; the legs flare out to accommodate larger boots, which doesn't apply to me.
Overall though I really like them, (and the color goes well with most of my outfits, too, I agree with Rob.)

    Great do-it-all pants from Basin+Range

I've worn the Basin and Range Iron Mountain Pants about 10-15 days so far and I really like them. They're a unique blend of the best elements of various pants that I already have. The fit is slightly trim, but certainly not slim - just right for me. The material is soft and relatively light, but also has proved to be quite durable so far. The phone pocket on the right leg is a handy addition, and lays perfectly flat when not in use. The color is unique and has already garnered a couple compliments.
