Why We Built The Running Belt With Petco

From full-on sprints to casual strolls, our running belt holds what we need when we hit the trail with our dogs. Its fanny pack has just enough storage to fit hiking essentials like small first aid kits, doggy treats, and even our phone and human treats. Working with Petco, we added thoughtful details like an external dispenser for waste bags, and it pairs perfectly with our Go Dog Bag for more storage potential.

Great for Training and Adventuring

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I was given this product by Backcountry, but this is my personal opinion: I have a 1.5 year old Aussie who is still fine-tuning recall through positive reinforcement, so lots of high reward treats are a must for me to carry on trail or during any adventures. This running belt has been my go-to this summer, storing my pup's snacks for recall, a leash for immediate access when you don't feel like carrying it, and sometimes I can even include a ball in this belt as well. If you're currently training your dog and need access for anything, this belt is perfect for that goal. I never used the water bottle feature or the plastic bag holder/dispenser, but I found an overall success with the running belt throughout the summer season. I thought the material and quality of the running belt was durable - it's withstood many beach days and hiking trips in the white mountains of New Hampshire.

Not that great for a dog pack

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

The pack showed up in a zip lock bag, dirty with dog hair so I think I was sent a retired item. The bottle holder is really too small for my dog bottle which was why I got this item so the pictures are deceiving. Also does not come with the grey straps they show in pictured on the back of pack. Returning this item unfortunately.

Poor Design

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I was really excited when I thought that I had finally found a bag that I could use while taking my dog on walks. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The pouch seems to be well-made but I don't know how it would hold up with use because I haven't tested it. I realized it wasn't as expected right after removing it from the packaging. While the material seems durable, I'm concerned about staining over time from treats and it's not washable. I think it'd be helpful to make it in darker colors. The water bottle holder is way too small to be useable and that was the deal breaker for me. I'd have to take a separate pack to hold water for my dog and me. So no need for this bag if I have to take another bag anyway. The Petco Running bag is a great concept that needs more work to make it a useable bag. I do not recommend the bag at this time and I will return it.
