Weird fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Size Bought: XS

Same as the other Olympus shorts, these had a tight waistband but wide leg openings. They didn't work for me.

Pockets!!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XS

I love these! They feel like pretty standard running shorts overall, but the pockets are HUGE. I mean, crazy large. I laughed the first time I put them on, because the pockets just keep going, like some kind of Mary Poppin's purse situation. I've worn Nike Tempos for so long and really thought I would just keep getting new pairs of those, but I took a chance on these & they've totally won me over. In terms of construction, they're a little bit looser than the Nike XS on me. The fabric is a little bit thicker than a typical ultra-thin running short material, but it does feel more durable. I'm definitely going to come back for more!

Great All-Around Shorts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: L

The original Olympus shorts are really comfortable and can do just about anything! I have these and the new updated version and love them both! These are made out of a slightly different fabric blend (more poly) and have a slightly looser fit than the new ones, but both are great! I hike, workout, walk, and paddle in them. They are stretchy, comfortable, breathable, and dry quick. The waist is on the slim side, so if you're in between sizes, I'd recommend sizing up. For context, I usually wear size large in Backcountry and most brands and a large in these fit.

Great All-Around Shorts

Pretty nice

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: M

The material is a little heavier than I expected, but they're stretchy and feel durable. The fit is good for me (5'6", 135, bought the mediums). I am very happy with the waistband- I wasn't sure I'd like how wide it is. But I've run in these, done some calisthenics workouts, and done some walking with a pack on, and I'm pleased that they haven't ridden up and they stayed in place with the pack on too (as opposed to some pants that start to get pushed down which is unfortunate while hiking to have to stop and pull up your pants all the time).

My one gripe is about the pockets (and the two zip pockets is the primary reason I bought these); they are so big that the pocket material actually hangs down below the bottom of the short, especially if something heavy like keys are in the pocket. Even when the pockets are empty, if I'm going up steps, climbing, etc I've noticed the mesh peaking out from the shorts which is weird.

Shorts

  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Love these shorts, size was perfect and they are comfy and great for outdoors, they have zip up pockets on both sides of the hips which are amazing!

Functional shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

I love that there are 2 side pockets that are zippered! The pockets are big enough to hold a phone or small wallet and keys! They are great for activities and I think are a necessity to have shorts with pockets and zippers!

Good at first

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: Medium

Overall these shorts are super comfy, great material and I love the higher waist on them. I initially got them for running but I am not sure if I just sized them wrong but they are a little snug which causes them to ride up a while running. I and 5’7, 155 lbs with thick thighs and a big booty and small waist. Another preference thing that I would prefer to have is a zippered pocket in the back rather the front for running purposes. But overall these shorts are SUPER comfy, they are great for hiking, going to the gym and I still wear them for shorter runs.
Update: They have shrunk in the wash making them ride up uncomfortably with every activity.

Cool but didn't fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: XS

I'm on the smaller side for these shorts. I ordered the XS, which say they fit 24.5-25.5 inch waist. My waist hovers around 24.5", and these were just a bit too big. Might be like some other reviews said that they just had too much fabric. I really wanted these to work and am bummed they didn't. The fabric and design is really nice.

Functional AND Flattering

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

These are by far my favorite shorts! I like the high rise and the wide waistband because it makes them super flattering and comfortable. They don't fall down or ride up when I run and hike. The material is super light weight and stretchy. I took them on a week-long rafting trip and they dried super quick! I would highly recommend these shorts for ALL activities!

New Favorite Shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

FINALLY! I have been looking for shorts for years. I am 5'8'' and 145lb with really long legs so i appreciate the extra half inch on these. 3'' shorts are too short but 4 or 6 inch make me feel frumpy. I really love how thick the waistband is as well. Even carrying an extra 10 pounds that I dont usually have on my frame they dont dig into my hips. Added bonus- i didn't realize these had pockets when i ordered them but they do! With zippers! Also Note: there is no liner which i know will make a LOT of women happy. Overall super happy to finally find the perfect shorts. I will definitely be buying the other color as well. I usually wear a sz 10 pants and the large is perfect. Thank you backcountry!

Lightweight active short

Shorts are sooo hard for me with my athletic build. I’ve worn these to the gym and out running, but think they’ll work better for hiking for me this summer. Pros: the material is great. It’s very light and stretchy and seems like it will great when it starts to get hot. The cut is flattering. The medium fit true to size and left enough room for my butt and thighs. I like the thick waistband as well. And the zippered pocket is a great touch. Cons: when running these did ride up a bit which led to chaffing, but that basically happens with any active short for me unfortunately. For what it’s worth, these are single layer.

    Super Lightweight and Comfy

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

These shorts are perfect for any type of activity. I've been wearing them lately hiking, fishing, and at the gym . There are pockets, which zip! The fabric is super soft and I want to wear them all the time. They do bunch a little in the back but nothing that is probably noticeable to other people. I typically wear a size Small and the Smalls fit perfect.

Amazing (but a little too much) Material

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I am an avid trail runner, and really picky about active shorts. The good far outweighs the bad with these. Pros: The material of these shorts is amazinggggg. Perfect length. The waistband, although thick, was really comfortable and secure. I love love love the oversized pockets (with zippers!). Cons: I took a star away because there's a little extra material that bunches in some places you don't want it to.

    How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
    Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
    Sleeve:
Have someone measure from the center of the back neck down the arm, with arm slightly bent, to the wrist bone.
    Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
    Inseam:
Measure from the crotch to the floor with no shoes.
    Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
