We designed the Mantle Climb Jogger with tackling boulders and jamming cracks in mind. Its Cordura construction and gusseted crotch perfectly balance abrasion-resistance and freedom of movement so that you can stem, high-step, and ascend slab without worrying about ripped pants. A shorter pant length keeps the cuffs out of your climbing shoes, and we made sure you can access all pockets while wearing a harness.

Make them again!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Why would you stop making these??? They are the most functional pants and all I want is one in each of these colors. I have black but REALLY want the green and bronze. I’ve been checking and receiving ads for months but they are never restocked. I have several friends who all feel the same way. If you made them again it would make me happy. Please do! And don’t change the colors.

THE Hiking/Climbing pant
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
For years I've been searching for form-fitting, good-looking, light pants for climbing, hiking, and getting out. I have to say, Backcountry knocked it out of the park with these. The super-light material lets your legs breathe, making them perfect for the crag or even the gym (no more trips to the gym during the winter wearing shots!) I've gone out a few times with these bad boys, but was recently impressed with an 8-hour, muddy-bank fishing day where I had to jump in the water to rescue some gear. The pants were dry in 15 minutes, and somehow didn't even smell like river after. In fact, I went out to dinner after and just left the pants on because the mud knocked off and it was dry, oh, and look good enough to eat out in.

My favorite "everything" pant!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I wear these constantly! Typically I can't often purchase pants in S/M/L sizes because I can never find the right balance between waist and inseam - joggers are the exception because they're supposed to end at the ankle vs. the foot and these are absolutely perfect for me! I wear these hiking, camping, running, but also for everyday use around town and even to the office. I constantly get compliments on them and people asking where I bought them. Favorite features: Integrated belt, flexibility & "give" in the fabric, stain resistance, zippered rear/side pocket, light weight material, colors.

Great casual pants
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I used these for casual wear, they fit perfectly and were extremely comfortable. My only complaint was the pocket design. The front pockets had trouble holding things while seated and the side entry rear pocket was a little hard to use sometimes. I would love another pair, as mine were torn on a nail recently. I hope they come back in stock.

Love it overall but the pocket design
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought this mantle climb jogger for outdoor/daily casual use, and this is my first time trying Backcountry brand pants. Had it on several times and couple washes. Overall, the design is relatively fit. The material is lightweight, quick dry, and durable (thanks to Cordura blended into the fabric). Fit wise it is great. I am a 36-waist, 200-lb and 6-feet build, size large looks pretty sleek on me. If you use it for outdoor hiking or camping, it is great. However, for daily use, the pocket system can really be improved. both front pockets can't hold any stuff (keys, small wallets or Smart Phone) and things will fall out while you sit (I had several times while driving). The only pocket can hold stuff is the zipped tiny one, but it is too small to be practical to hold stuff. Other than this issue, I am happy with this pants.

Great for Outdoor Activity
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Love that these aren't super floppy and loose like a lot of hiking/activity pants. They're cut more like joggers, but have great stretch and are super lightweight for summer. The built-in belt is a nice touch. The pockets are fine, although due to the slim cut at the front, you can't really stash much there. These aren't cargo pants though - you're not buying these for storage. Only other gripe is there's no fly for easy peeing on the go - but I suppose that would have affected the weight and fit of these nearly perfect pants.

Great for hiking, or for casual wear
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
The only thing I regret about buying these joggers is reading the reviews before I purchased. So many of the reviews said these ran small, so I purchased a size up (L) and I'm kind of swimming in them. The mediums would have been perfect. They are slim fit, but they don't run small. Thankfully, despite running a little big they still look pretty good and can be tightened up in the waist. Other than that, they are very lightweight and quick drying. Wear them when it's warm on their own, or wear a base layer under them when it's cold. At least one back pocket would improve the design and things can fall out of the side pockets pretty easily when sitting down, but that's about all I'd consider changing on them.

Favorite Climbing Pants
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I love these pants, and they have quickly become my go-to climbing pants. Plus they look nice as casual joggers for doing non-climbing stuff too. Pros: - Lightweight, breathable, stretchy material that is surprisingly tough. I’ve used my knees and banged my shins more than I’d like to admit, but these pants always come out in better shape than my legs. - Great integrated webbing belt that both buckles into loops and can cinch tight. - Deep front pockets and nice zippered side pocket. - Elastic cuffs and slight taper so I can really see my feet. - Love the color. Cons: - No back pocket (which isn’t bad for when I’m climbing in them, but can be annoying when just wearing them around) - They wrinkle a bit, but I love the fabric otherwise, so I wouldn’t change it. - They're not a breathable as, say, my OR Ferosi pants (which are my favorite hiking pants), but they are way more durable.

Needs a little more give in the waist
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These pants are awesome except for the waist line. I am a traditional large, but these are definitely tight with littlt to no give in the waist line. I don't believe a complete sweat pants stretch is needed but in the middle between what it currently is and a sweat pant.

James here from the Backcountry brand product development team. I am writing this review today to help guide your sizing decision on this new product for Spring 2021. We built this jogger to serve as your go to pant for everything from bouldering to hiking to chilling at the bar after. The Cordura construction gives you the durability you need while climbing and the spandex provides you with comfort and stretch needed for mobility. The web belt allows you to customize the waist as you see fit and the buckle serves as an anchor to keep them in place while on the move. In order to achieve maximum stretch from the waist ensure that the buckle is fully open.
