Not great

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Shorts are cute, true to size, but bunch up between legs when walking more than a few steps In combination with the unlimited side slits, they just end up looking weird. Not shorts I would wear outside of the house.

Lightweight Shorts

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These shorts are extremely breathable and were great for my hiking and running in the Mojave Desert this summer. If they do get a little wet they dry quickly which is great if you sweat a lot or have some water based adventures planned. The colors ar fun and the material is durable despite how light it is. I wore these on a lot of day hikes throughout the califronia coast as well as the desert. The do have a large slit in the side and can occatinally bunch in the middle but otherwise have a good fit. “I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion.

Your Go-To Adventure Shorts

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I was given this product by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I've recently received the Lightweight 3.5in Trail Short: size medium, in the color black. These were an instant favorite from the moment I tried them on - I've worn these along the south rim in the Grand Canyon, exploring through Sedona on a 110 degree day, hiking trails throughout New Hampshire, and splashing through the water on simple lake days in Vermont. Need a pair of shorts for scrambling along the granite rocks of the White Mountains? This is for you. Need a pair of lightweight, breathable shorts for those hot climates? This is for you. Need a pair of shorts for dipping in and out of the water? This is for you. (Bonus, they dry out super fast). Out in Sedona, I wore these shorts while laying in a river and had no issues with any lingering dampness - when they're dry, they're dry. The same goes for those lake days in Vermont. The material is perfect for drying off quickly. It's no exaggeration when I say these shorts have gone through the wringer. From the southwest to the northeast, I've battered these shorts. I've smeared sunscreen lotion on them, which washed off easily. I've scooted across granite rocks, brushed up against those pesky, sharp twigs...even my playful 1.5 year old Aussie couldn't break through the material. I'm extremely pleased with these shorts - one of the best products Backcountry has released.

Great All Around Hiking Shorts

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I was given this product by backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion. I recently received these shorts in the green color, size small. They are light-weight and allow for great air flow. The way the short is cut allows for unrestricted movement which is great for climbing, hiking, and running. I even wear these shorts around the house because they are so comfortable. I am a frequent hiker, and I recently wore them while hiking a mountain in Colorado (Castle & Conundrum). They held up nicely even when in contact with coarse rock. The shorts experienced all types of weather on the 10 mile trek. First it was beautiful and sunny, but then we experienced rain and hail for about an hour before the sun came back out. As expected they were perfect shorts for a summer day, but as an added benefit, the shorts dried very quickly after the storm passed through. After wearing the shorts more than a dozen times, the product still looks brand new. The shorts were just as described and pictured on the website. They are also true to size. I am 5’6’’ 125lbs and the small shorts fit perfectly. Overall I am pleased with these shorts and would purchase again.

Great Easy Trail Short

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

These have become my go to super easy pull on trail short for both hiking and runs. They are super breathable and lightweight, great for beating the summer heat. Back pocket is perfect for storing keys and the waistband adjustment helps you get the right fit.
