We designed the Hybrid Grid Fleece 3/4 Bottom to help us stay out in the backcountry as long as possible when mid-winter conditions provide a bounty of fresh snow. The stretchy fabric moves with us on the skintrack, and the grid fleece knees and backing offer lightweight insulation for dawn patrol tours that begin with temperatures reading uncomfortably close to zero. Thanks to the motion-friendly design and heavyweight feel, this bottom is also among our favorites to wear as we lap our favorite chair on a memorable storm day.

Go to Backcountry Baselayer
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are my new go to for all high output activities. The hybrid paneling works great, grid construction in areas that run hot like behind the knees and in the crotch. Fleece in areas where you want added warmth like up front and in the rear. The 3/4 length is fantastic! no more excessive bulk stuffed into my boots.

Not as expected
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I own a lot of grid fleece items. These are not grid fleece. They are also not heavy weight as described. If I had not taken them directly on a ski trip that I needed to wear them for, I would have returned them. They are essentially a mid-weight 3/4 polyester base layer. These are also my first 3/4 base layer purchase, which in theory I wanted because they sit above the boot. Not sure how other 3/4's would fit but these tend to ride up to my knee after a minute of activity leaving a large portion of my leg exposed directly to my bib shell which is not comfortable or warm at all. I purchased in M which is what I wear in everything, I am 5' 11" with a 31 inch inseam and they fit as intended before I start moving. I have now relegated these to an extra layer over top of a lighter weight base layer when I want a little more warmth (they work well for this purpose), but in no way will I wear these on their own anymore. For what its worth they are well made, just not at all as described.

Great just not heavyweight
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This is a great baselayer and my first 3/4 bottom which I?m really loving. I just wouldn?t call this a heavyweight baselayer, nor would I equate it to a lofted/honeycomb layer. I wear shell bottoms, pants or bibs, and after a morning freezing standing in the 20s watching my kids ski I?d never wear these under just shell pants on a lift, with blowing wind in zero temps. For me, that?s what a heavyweight should cover. Otherwise they are solid, no markup for fancy brand name and a great waistband, fly system for guys, cozy feel on the skin.

Not Grid Fleece
These are thick stretch pants and are not fleece. They're nothing like Patagonia R1 or Outdoor Research Vigor grid fleece.
