Built-to-move Rambler Stretch Workpant blends durable workwear strength with all-day comfort
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I put these through yard projects, truck tinkering, and brewery hangs. The stretch twill moves easily when I’m crouching or climbing ladders, reinforced knees take the abuse, and the triple-needle seams haven’t popped. They breathe better than heavy duck pants and clean up well enough to roll straight to dinner."
We designed the Backcountry Rambler Stretch Workpant for the days that start with a project and end with a plan. Early loads, late errands, and everything between feel easier in the Rambler’s breathable stretch twill that moves when we kneel, lift, and hustle. Backcountry durability shows up in the details—reinforced knees for kneeling sessions, triple-needle stitching for seam strength, and a straight-leg fit that looks good with boots or sneakers.
Function stays front and center: a side drop-in pocket swallows a phone or small notebook, while classic five-pocket storage keeps tools close. The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100–certified fabric offers everyday comfort with a cleaner footprint, and the cut runs a touch large so sizing down dials the fit for all-day wear.

Good pants
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
First thing I did was stain them working on my car, then yard work, and they cleaned up fine for the weekend climbing trip.

Rambler Stretch work pants one gripe
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I have one “big” gripe. I’ve had these pants for a couple years now. They are the most comfortable heavier/work type canvas-ish pants I’ve ever had. I wear them for work, home, play/casual. I’ve worn through one of the knees and patched them myself, which is fine and expected for the amount of use they’ve had. Overall, I love them. But, my gripe is the front pockets. I think the material for the front pockets is some type of slightly heavier-duty tissue paper. I’ve torn through both front pockets twice each and have had to have them repaired twice by a seamstress. This is the only pair of pants I’ve ever had to do this. I don’t have long or sharp fingernails, I don’t carry any heavy, sharp, bulky items, rats or any other items that should cause this issue in my pockets. But they’ve torn. Twice. And it’s so frustrating. It didn’t happen immediately, and maybe the seamstress could have done better with the first repair. But really, I shouldn’t have to worry about that in the first place. I’d consider buying them again, but not full price, and I’d consider having the pockets replaced with a heavier material almost right off the bat if I could find someone to do it for a reasonable price. Maybe I got a weird pair with janky pockets. Who knows? If the pockets held up for me, they’d be 5/5.

My Daily Drivers
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These quickly became my go to pair of pants, to the point where i ended up snagging one of each color so that I could get away with wearing them pretty much every day! I really appreciate that they are made of a heavier weight material which lends well to durability, without compromising comfort thanks to the stretch. The cuffs also hold a fold nicely if you like rolling them up a little over your shoes or boots. The side drop in pocket is also perfect for either a work badge or a multi tool, but its also subtle enough where you can totally get away with dressing these up. All in all whether i'm headed to the office for the day, hopping on the moto for a quick cruise, or heading out to dinner downtown - chances are i'm going to be wearing these pants.

Good fit and fabric.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The fit of these is not too slim or too baggy, which makes it a versatile option for activity or casual use.

Durable/Comfortable Pants
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are great pants that are comfortable enough for everyday use, yet durable enough for more demanding tasks. Depending on the material/stretch factor, I wear between a 32 and 34 waist. I bought a size 32, and they fit great. I enjoy the reinforced knees because the pants will not wear as quickly as comparable styles.

Good Pants
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are solid pants that can be casually or as true work wear - I would not compare them to ultra-durable heavy duty workwear pants for everyday use, but they are strong enough for your average job and are comfortable.

Perfect Everyday Pant
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I got this for my brother and he really loves it. I could tell the texture was really nice--sturdy, but not stiff.

Amazing pant, great for thicker legs too
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've had a pair of these for the last couple of years and they're holding up great! I have thicker calves and thighs and it's been hard to find a straight cut pant like this comfortable. There's a little bit of stretch -- enough to make it mobile but not enough to compromise the hard cotton feel of the pant. If you're into workwear pants and looking for a more versatile Carhartt essentially, then here you are!

Great pants until the pocket blew out
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Title tells it all. Durable and slightly stretchy pant material. Pants lasted about 2.5 years (minus warm summer temps: these are cool weather pants) until the right front pocket blew out. Pants otherwise had a lot of life left in them.

What's with the paper thin pockets?
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I love these pants. I have bought about a dozen pairs in the last few years. What I don't understand are the pockets. I have one pocket where I carry my phone and the other is where I carry my keys. Oddly, the pocket where I carry my phone has gotten holes in every pair of ramblers that I own. The back pocket has easily worn through where my wallet sits. I love the fit, they are very comfortable and look great, but man the pockets drive me crazy. I've never spent so much time mending. Please improve the material used for the pockets.
