Active Utility Pant

The Backcountry Tech Cargo Pants will take you wherever your heart desires, be it rugged mountain trail or red rock desert crag. They're built with a quick-drying stretch construction that helps wick away sweat on steep switchbacks and ensures easy mobility when you're in the harness. Backcountry equipped them with two zippered front pockets, so your energy snacks and trail map are never far from hand.

  • A technical pant for everything from climbing to hiking to camping
  • Quick-drying polyester performs well on warm, muggy days
  • Double weave stretch lets you move freely through each pursuit
  • Multiple pockets come in handy from the trail to the crag
  • Relaxed tech fit cut for mobile comfort during any adventure

Pockets and fit need improvement

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 6

I like the fabric and overall style of these pants. So far they are fairly comfortable for hiking with decent breathability and stretch - without stretching too much.

The cut is a bit too tight through the thighs and hips for me, but a larger size would likely be too large in the waist, as there is already a small gap. I like the higher cut waist.

The front pockets are only mesh material, too small, and oddly set. I hate mesh pockets because if you put anything metal like keys or a pocket knife in them (which you might commonly want to put in your pockets), it is uncomfortable and likely to tear the mesh. If you put dog treats in them, the treats can get a tad soggy from being next to your skin. An iPhone XR does not fully fit in any of the pockets - it will stick out of the rear pockets considerably.

Not true to size

  • Fit: Runs small

Does not run true to size. I am a solid 8 and could barely get them up my legs. Love the material. Disappointing.

Perfect for Anything!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 6

These pants are so comfortable, versatile, and durable. I wear them hiking, to the gym, and even to the office sometimes. I love the asphalt color, the fit, and material. Highly recommend!

How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Chest:
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Sleeve:
Have someone measure from the center of the back neck down the arm, with arm slightly bent, to the wrist bone.
Waist:
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Inseam:
Measure from the crotch to the floor with no shoes.
Hip:
Measure around the fullest part of your body at the top of your legs.
