Atlas Lock Jaw not what I had hoped for
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I returned these poles shortly after purchasing them. After a pair of collapsible poles broke a week before a big trip, I purchased these in a rush. However, I quickly realized I had made the wrong decision. After 3 days of touring, one of the baskets snapped in half (cold and icy but not rocky conditions and this never should have happened) and broke off. In addition, sometimes mid tour, the connection between the pieces would slip and send me plummeting off balance with one taller and one shorter pole. Lastly, when fully collapsed and locked, the second and third pieces had a tendency to slip apart via gravity, leaving your poles too long to strap to your pack without stabbing you. Since I am a splitboarder, this was more annoying than an actual issue as you can strap the poles upside down, but still, its something that shouldn't happen. Though these poles are labeled as trekking poles, the description advertises them as something you can take from the skin track to alpine climbing and beyond. In my experience, this is definitely not accurate. I wouldn't plan on using these poles for any more than an easy to moderate hikes or short, flat, snowshoe.

THE POLE FITS!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I feel like Cinderella of poles. I have tried every pole out there but they have all been too long! I am small but never thought I would have this hard of a time finding poles to tour in the backcountry with. I bought these poles thinking that they would be too long per usual but ALAS! THEY FIT!! They really do collapse down to 66cm and extend to 125cm if need be but for me the 100cm length is just perfect! I love how the straps are adjustable so taking them off is a breeze when I have gloves on and also tightening them is great when I am in a thick area where loosing my pole is high risk. the locking joints are solid haven't slipped on me yet. The versatility of this pole is awesome as well. They come with plastic covers for the tips so that you can go hiking with them during the spring and summer!
I'm 5'4" and these poles are perfect for me!
