Mythical power for river running and playboating.
Whether you're a bona fide river rat or a paddling newbie, a river-runner or a play-boater, a PB&J-eater or a cold-cut aficionado, the Hercules Straight Shaft Glass Paddle from AT Paddles has the juice to keep you happy. Designed to be equally well-balanced driving you down the river or ducking into holes to spin and surf, the Hercules has a fiberglass Duraweave blade with reinforced tips, and a carbon-blend Duraweave shaft that's light and strong, so you don't have to sacrifice durability for speed and precision. But what really makes the Hercules stand apart is the shaft's ability to resist catastrophic failure after taking a big hit, so you'll be able to paddle to the bottom of the rapid safely after you bang your paddle up on a rock.
- Carbon blend Duraweave shaft with Innegra

- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I am a beginner to whitewater and havent put it through anything over class II quite yet but i have shoved off of a few rocks and have had no problems with it. Itâs quite light and feels very stiff and responsive in the water. Added quite a bit of power to my stroke coming from a plastic paddle. And if it matters to you, this thing is sexy. The picture hardly does it justice, i just love looking at mine.
Hey Landon! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review! I am happy you love the paddle and stoked to see you are getting out on the water! LOVE the goat sticker!
kayaking and technology..
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Who would think those 2 words go together? It has been 30 years since I paddleds a kayak...all my buddies either got fat, pregnant or moved, which also made me move on to other things as well. Here we are in 2015 and I met some more buddies that wanted to whitewater paddle. I was really excited about kayaking once again. When I started looking at all the products that were out there, that is when I figured out real quick that technology was definately a part of this industry....in paticular in the paddles themselves. After doing my homework I decided I liked all the reviews I read on AT Paddles, so I ordered one. When it came in, I was excited to open it and when I saw it....I got so fired up, I ordered another one. I couldn't believe how light they were and at the same time how durable they were....I even won a $100 from my buddy that bet me I couldn't roll a kayak again since I haven't been in one for 30 years... If you are looking for a paddle you can use all day and use for the next several years, I would encourage you to try out the hercules glass paddle from AT. When you deal with a company like BackCountry, that delivers super fast has great customer service and even a return policy if you feel it doesn't meet your standards....you can't go wrong. I am a repeat customer for both AT and BackCountry, and being self employed, many businesses and their low quality of customer service really upset me and make me never do business again with them. Who would of thought, 30 years later, I have a customer # and I don't have to drive several hours away to get paddling supplies anymore... Hope this helps if you are looking for the first time! I know you will not be disappointed.
