AsoloPiuma Hiking Boot - Men's

Solid trail-blazing boots.

You want to tackle some steep all-day hikes this season, and you know your sneakers aren't going to give you the comfort, support, and cushioning you need. Asolo designed the Men's Piuma Hiking Boots to give you stellar support, solid traction, and superb breathability so you can bag peaks, hike up rugged terrain, and comfortably descend steep trails.

  • Water-resistant suede uppers shed moisture from light rain, muddy pathways, and frost-covered trails, while nylon mesh materials ensure breathability
  • Boot design's natural shape mirrors the foot so the lower part of the last cradles and supports the foot while the heel shape improves comfort
  • Quick-lace hooks and lace system offer a comfortable, custom fit
  • Breathable, moisture-wicking Velveteen linings eliminate clammy issues during intense hikes
  • Molded EVA midsole and Asoflex natural flex technology provide cushioning, support, and all-day hiking comfort
  • Vibram rubber outsoles offer solid traction on rocky, sketchy, or hardpack terrain
  • Fit: MM

Dry weather, light weight support

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 9 1/2

This boot excels at its niche- light weight, dry weather duty. Worn every day for several months straight, indoors and out, mainly on sand, gravel and rock, in dry environments, this boot gave consistent, comfortable performance. It has the feel of a high-top tennis shoe, but with better support, stability and traction. All that mesh means it breathes as it is supposed to, managing sweaty feet due to heat and activity with with ease. Not ideal for anything over a basic load (over say 20-30 lbs), but that's not really what this boot was designed for. If you want the feel of a low profile, light weight, super breathable boot that still gives confidence and agility, check this out.

Great hiking boots

My son is hiking the AT, South to North. He raves about how much he LOVES these boots. He swears by them - comfortable, durable, and they dry quickly compared to others in his group on the trail. He's well past the halfway point and wants me to order a second pair to send him if and when he needs them. He's hiked over 1200 miles in all terrain and weather and still loves the boots.

Lightweight, Comfortable Buckets

In terms of weight, breathability, and comfort, these boots are great, but I would tack a warning on for anyone whose hopes for these boots line up with mine: while I can imagine them being adaptable for puddle-y conditions, they are definitely not suitable for any terrain where your feet will be fully immersed – once soaked, they will retain substantial amounts of water for minimum 8 hours, and won't fully dry without at least 12 hours off your feet/in the sun.

Great for extended wear in dry conditions, though!

Good lightweight airy shoe.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Good-looking shoe with roomy toe box and snug heel. Good ankle support. Mesh lets in water very quickly but dries fast. True to size.

Does anyone out there now the heel drop...

Does anyone out there now the heel drop on these boots?

Can't give you an exact number, but I wear 4mm drop NB Minumus shoes and this boot feels much closer to those than it does to a "regular" hiking boot like my Asolo Fugitives.

Lightweight & Breathable

I am an avid runner, and I am on my feet all day at work. I was hesitant when trying on boots, but these are the most comfortable, light weight, and breathable of the 10+ pairs I tried on. I hiked through puddles, mud, and in the 40 degree F weather. I have no complaints, and they look the most stylish. Had never heard of this brand, but I am very satisfied. Runs true to size; order the same size as your running shoe.

Durability Issues

Lightweight and comfortable however within two weeks of use, albeit strenuous use, in rocky terrain one of the boots took an inch long gash clean through the shoe where the upper meets the sole. Still fine in dry conditions, but problematic for any wet terrain. Not sure if bad luck or poor design, but disappointing nonetheless.

I assume you returned them.
They are a little more lightweight than I anticipated when purchasing them. However, I am going to give them a try. I have done some light hiking, but nothing rigorous so far.

Asolo Piuma Hiking Boot - Men's

Solid boot

I just received these boots in the mail and tried them on to walk around for a bit. They're extremely comfortable and they provide great balance. The ankle support is superb. Good tread on the bottom appears like it will last a while.

The lace system is good and easy to tighten. Looking forward to take them out on a hike this weekend, will update the review immediately after.

As an extra, they look good too.
