Comfortable and good shoe.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Durable so far. Toe area is not as large as the Altra Lone Peak. Tread is medium aggressive, which seems fine.

Disappoint all atound
I wore out pairs of TImp 1 and TImp 1.5. I ordered the TImp 2 without hesitation. After a mile the back of my heels have dime sized-blisters. Never been more disappointed in a shoe. I was a huge Altra fan. Maybe the TImp 3 is better, but I'm not hopeful.

To Small in toe.
Great shoe, but only shoes thats blistered all the tips of my toes. way narrow in the toe and half size small. Good when feet are cold, but once they start to swell, its not good.

Great Fit but Heel Wear Issue
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is my fourth pair of Altra Timp shoes, and the Timp 2 is the best fitting. The Timp 1.5 and Timp 2.0 developed holes inside of the shoe in the heel area. I thought it might of been the Smartwool socks and switched to synthetic running socks, but the same thing is happening with a new pair of Timp 2 shoes using Thorlo synthetic running socks; however, it's not happening as fast as with the wool-blend socks. This hasn't happened before with other brands and models of running shoes. The Timp 2 fits my foot well and there is no heel slippage, and if they didn't fit so well, I'd have blisters. There is also a spot in the sole in the rear of the shoe that has no tread but only EVA and is a sweet spot for rocks and can be painful. This must be their "rock channel" design. Good thing I only used these shoes for walking and not running. I called the manufacturer and only got lip service. They think this is an isolated case and didn't seem to care about improving their product. If I could find a brand that fit as well or better, I'd dump Altra. I would recommend these shoes for fit but not for durability. By the way, I wore a 11.5 in the Timp and a 12 in the Timp 2.0, so they run a little small.

Weirdly tight across the top of forefoot
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
Title says it all......the length and width of this shoe was perfect (size 13, same as my Altra Escalante?s) but were crazy tight across the top of my forefoot. Really disappointed.....liked the look and feel otherwise, but had to return. I don?t believe I have particularly wide or ?fat? feet, so just be prepared for this outcome....I saw plenty of reviews echoing the same fit issue but rolled the dice to see if they would work for me......sadly, they didn?t.

Feather weight shoe
Really comfortable foot fitting shoe. The toe width is excellent. Shoe is light and grips the ground well on trails.

Nothing like original Timp
Footshape is obviously no longer a thing for this shoe. Altra is obviously appealing to the mainstream narrow foot market with this shoe. Gone are the days of wide feet fitting in Altra shoes. Also, I saw a comment on another negative review suggesting they are offering footshape for "everyone", can you just tell me which shoe fits like the original Timp and I'll buy that one. Because the Timp 2, which to me is the logical choice, fits nothing like the original Timp.

Not the same as the TIMP 1.5
My husband's TIMP 1.5 fit him perfectly in a 12M. The new 2.0? Nope. Way too narrow. Going back.

Narrow foot FEAR NOT!
On my first try, I to could feel the narrowness that everyone else seemed to explain. I even read the reviews before purchasing and still decided to get my usual size to feel for myself. At first glance I could tell the forefoot was tight as if I was putting on a soccer cleat...not ideal. I always fear going a half size too big in case it leads to increased friction and hot spots around the heel or toes. So before sending them back I took a closer look at the insoles, which are more dense and thick than pretty much every other model including the Olympus and Lone Peak. Taking the soles out and trying the fit was so much better that I almost contemplated running without them. But I switched them out for an older pair of my Superiors which were still in good shape. If you can, get these and replace the insoles for something thinner. These shoes provide a great light feeling that connects you to the trail and gives a nice springiness due to its cushion. The footprint also feels more similar to my actual foot. For me that is a major pro for all running shoes especially if you do not like the chunky feeling that the Olympus and even the LonePeaks give.

This review is for the 1.5 version
This is for the 1.5 version I docked a star because the 2 models are now too narrow. I was told by Altra representative that the next generation will have a wider toe box. The 1.5 Timps have a super comfortable fit , wide toe box with just the perfect amount of cushion. Not to little or too much you can really put the miles on in these! My fingers are crossed they take the Timps back to their roots.
