Altra One 2.5 Running Shoe - Women's

Just barely more than five ounces of road running fury.

Since natural running took hold of the running world, shoe designs have slowly become lighter and lower to the ground. The Altra Women's One 2.5 Running Shoe offers both of these characteristics but with a unique twist. Inside and out, this shoe is shaped like your foot. Inside the FootShape Toe Box, your toes have room to spread out and relax, and toward the heel, the fit tapers down to cup and secure your heel. Although fully cushioned, the InnerFlex midsole feels light underfoot and flexes in line with your joints. With the Zero Drop platform, you get the most natural foot position, a powerful toe off, and a smooth transition through your stride. Plus this shoe weighs in at a modest 5.2oz. Among Altra's running shoes, the One 2.5 is unparalleled when it comes to speed work or comfort over marathon distances.

I posted this for the men's One 2.5, but they are pretty much the same.

The One 2.5 are the lightest and most minimal shoe in the Altra line. I've put four runs in them and here's the feedback I have so far!

These are the most flexible and lightest road shoe I have ever used, and it's very noticeable (in appearance as well as the ride). The midsole is all EVA and an outsole is non-existent besides a few small additions you can see from my photo (the dark blue patches). The high flexibility is wonderful and you can literally roll this shoe into a ball. That being said, be wary if you're used to something like the Torin or Olympus trail shoe then switch over to the One 2.5. To no surprise, my lower legs and feet were much more fatigued after a 20miler in these compared to the others. The One 2.5 will likely take some getting used to.

The upper fits like a glove, with some extra room in the toe-box for your forefoot to spread out upon landing. I feel the One 2.5 cater to those who want a light racing shoe, a quick shoe for speed play, or have an efficient gait and prefer the most minimal road shoe available.

I have two pair pans I use one for work and one for exercise. I'm a nurse and I'm on my feet a lot and these are the best and most comfortable shoe I have ever owned.

Altras Forever!

I am currently on my 6th pair of Altras, and I keep buying more since my feet are so happy! I have never had a brand of shoe that has fit my wide(r) feet, and this is the only shoe I can wear (in all styles), that a run doesn't end with me wanting to cut off my feet! My favorite are the Lone Peak, and I have gone through a few pairs already--they have awesome grip, support, and can tackle various conditions. Mine have been through the Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim, trails in the Wasatch with mud, snow, rain, rail trails, etc. Great shoes!!! You won't be sorry. I had previously always purchased a 9.5 due to my wide feet, but a true size 9 fits best since there's no need to size up in length.

Awesome review Heidi! I'm an Altra lover myself, and took my Lone Peak on the Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim recently too! Feel free to reach out to me with any Altra or running specific questions in the future, I'd be happy to help!

Ridiculously "light" shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

  • Size Bought: 8.5

Bought this shoe for my girl and she couldn't be happier! She's a running fool now and can't seem to take these off. She ordered a size 8.5 and said they were very light and very comfortable giving her plenty of space in the toe box area. She's thinking of ordering another pair.
