I purchased one of these bad boys for a trek through Alaska and when i opened it up for a gear check before hitting the trail, I noticed a pretty sizable rip in the fabric towards the head.

The product seems decent enough and I like the self-inflation aspect, but shipping a new product with a rip seems to speak ill of BackCountry.....very disapointed.

I bought this pad 1/2 year ago and used it once last Fall. I just brought it on it's 2nd trip this Spring. While blowing it up, a huge air bubble formed in the middle of the pad: apparently the layers of material have separated (bad glue job?). The air bubble is hard and you cannot sleep on it. I let air out until it was somewhat usable. When I rolled it up the next morning, air pushed into the bubble again, leading to more separation of the material layers. The pad is defective and unusable. I'll go back to buying Thermorest products.

This mat worked great when i took a road trip with some buddies this summer to big bend and white sands new mexico. it was so comfortable i never had trouble falling asleep once (usually a common theme for me). Its easy go roll up, and doesn’t take up too much space. for car camping and short camping trips i think its an awesome product at a fair price.

My daughter is light weight, so this was good for her. She had no issues with the pad. I know it is a little thin and may not hold up with someone of a larger weight.

Took it to point Reyes, and of the trip huge bubble in the middle, prefer rocks over this pad.

Nice and compactable pads. Got two of them to make one bed. The foam could be a bit more thicker but does it jobs from keep the sticks and rocks out of your back.

So far, I'm liking this pad. It is very comfortable (in the living room) fully inflated. It has a bit of a self-inflating capability, but I wouldn't recommend relying on that. It definitely still needs to be blown up to get the full capacity. Comes with a repair kit, which is a nice touch. Overall, good car camp pad at a great price.

Bought this as a gift for my mother she was going on a car camping trip she wasn't super impressed with it I have not tried it personally; she said it got the job done but definitely could be better.

I liked the sleeping pad upon arrival. First night was OK second night of backpacking trip noticed a huge bubble on pad, but still worked. second time camping pad only inflates with a huge bubble on one end.

Bought this for my youngest son for when we go car camping. I expected this to pack down much smaller. But it is pretty bulky. I have 4 other pads that will fold in half and roll up to the size of half gallon of milk. And there is really nothing lightweight about this, unless you are comparing it to a an actual air mattress. It will be good for car camping, but I will need something else for backpacking.

Love this. Use it for car camping and it's magical. Just a little more squish under me for a good night's sleep. I open the valve and let it self-inflate, add a couple big breaths for more firmness, and it never leaks. When I deflate, I roll it up once while kneeling on it to push all the air out, then open it back up and roll it tighter to get it to fit back in the bag. Haven't had any issues at all. Effortless to use, worth every penny.

Got this pad passed down to me when my older brother upgraded his sleeping set up and it's a good starter pad. Inflates and rolls up pretty easy but not super pack-able by any means. Something smaller and lighter weight is on my radar for longer backpacking trips but for an affordable and durable car camping pad this is a solid option.

This is a life saver really comfy inflates rather quick and keeps you off the cold ground is a little heavy but totally worth it.

I've used this pad a few times. It is far more comfortable than the cheap foam pad it replaced. It does the job and seems well made. My only complaint is the weight. I ordered the regular size pad which weighs a shade over 2 pounds. As a hiker I do not consider that lightweight. Still I'm happy with it and do recommend it for car camping (perhaps not thick enough for this situation) or hiking on a strict budget where saved ounces aren't worth an extra 20 dollar bill.

Quite frankly, I couldn't argue with the price of this snooze pad and while I do really, really love my Therm-a-Rest Prolite pad when backpacking, it doesn't exactly suit my needs when car camping - i.e. I wanted a little more cush underneath me. I actually bought two of these pads, and then picked up some coupler straps that allow me to rig the pads together and prevent the whole "crack-of-doom" situation that often happens when camping with two dogs and another person. For two people, the pads strapped together are pretty comfy. Albeit, I might pick up a third for the dogs so they can stop stealing my precious snooze space.

In sum though, the Lightweight Air Series Pad abides! They're relatively lightweight and roll-up fairly well considering the fact that they're hefty car camping pads. They do self-inflate... however.... that leads me to my next point.

So word to the wise, the pad will come wrapped in plastic, rather than its stuff sack (which it has, along with a repair kit). However, within the stuff sack are instructions on how exactly you should inflate this pad for the first time, which I strongly recommend following!

Other than that, this pad is comfortable, easy-to-use and great for car camping.

I got this to have something nicer than my backpacking pad when I'm pitching a tent within a ten-minute walk of a car. It's too bulky for me to want to take it into the back country, but it's perfect for car camping, and I've used it with overnight temps falling into the mid-20s. I found it to be sufficient insulation from the ground on that trip.

Awesome product. First time ever using a self inflating Air pad. It worked great just open it up let it roll out and in 30 mins its full. If you want it more firm give one breath and its full and firm. Very well insulated I took it to Yosemite so it got down to the 30s at night and it keep everything under me warm. It folds up very easy and is very light. Good product.

I've never used a small pad like this before - always just brought extra blankets for under my sleeping bag or used an air mattress. This is the perfect blend of the two.
Literally effortless to inflate - open the valve, wait a couple minutes for it to self-inflate, blow a breath or two to finish it off, done. Just as easy to deflate - open the valve, start rolling it up. I found it's easiest to roll it up while letting out the air, then close the valve, and then re-roll it tighter so that I can easily put the elastic bands around it and fit it into the carrying bag.
It was just enough padding to make my car camping night nearly as soft as sleeping at home, despite lumps and bumps from the latches and mats and junk in the car. I imagine it would be just as helpful to soften up a rocky spot of ground in the tent. So glad I bought this!

This is my first sleeping pad, so far im pretty happy with it. I'm a pretty big guy 6'3" and 210lbs, and it for the most part supports my weight. I think if I really wanted a super comfortable setup id go with the air matress type. But this pad is great for ease of use and its durable. Its also easy to deflate as well. packing it up only takes a minute and a half.
