Sleep is for the weak.

Inspired by rugged athletes who hike more than they sleep, the Ahnu Women's Sugarpine Hiking Shoes offer bold style and comfortable support. The upper is crafted from waterproof mesh, leather, and suede and lined in moisture-wicking mesh, which creates a breathable fit that protects your feet from wet conditions on the mountain. The gusseted tongue and rubber toe block dirt and rocks from sneaking in, while the non-marking Vibram sole with self-cleaning lugs provide necessary traction on wet or dry surfaces. Combined with Numentum Technology, the removable dual-density EVA footbed and molded nylon shank give your feet a lightweight feel with sleek style and supportive cushioning.

Too bad Teva

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I tried the Sugarpine because once Teva bought Ahnu they stopped making the Montara Air-mesh, my favorite shoe EVER. It was so supportive and lightweight but sturdy. Now they only make the waterproof all-leather Montaras which is not what I'm after for my mostly-desert hiking. The Sugarpines are an okay sneaker, look nice and fit true to size. But they feel cheap and the sole feels like walking on corrugated cardboard. Not the quality I got enjoyed from Ahnu and not worth the high price tag if you ask me!

New model

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I really wanted to buy a pair of Ahnu's identical to my previous pair, because I love them so much, but settled on this model due to the better pricing.

What I love about Ahnu shoes is the fit. They're comfortable, lightweight, and create no hotspots for me straight out of the box. I'm itching for the snow to melt so I can try them out on a trail!

The only negative I've found up until this point, which another review mentioned, is that they don't breathe super well. My socks were pretty wet when I took them off at the end of the night. Overall, a great shoe so far!

Ahnu Sugarpine Hiking Shoes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have had these shoes for about 6 months now and I have worn them on flat terrain as well as hiking in the mountains. They are pretty stable shoes with good grip, I 've worn on loose gravel and dirt and they do pretty well. As far as breathability goes, they will make your feet a little sweaty, I would recommend wool socks when wearing these shoes. I think the arch support is fair, I like my shoes to be on the cushy side and these are ok, I might add inserts at some point though. My feet are a little wide but I have no problem wearing these.

Good so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these at the end of fall, so I have yet to put them through the wringer of tough trails. So far, I really like the flexibility of the shoe. The upper is very soft and moves with your foot. From the first few wears, I would say that I don't think these offer as much arch support as Anhu boasts, but is manageable with insoles. The Vibram sole is grippy on steep trails and my feet have felt great after long days.

These shoes are awesome! I wore them on an 8 mile hike straight out the box and they were super comfortable and didn't give me any blisters. They are also very lightweight and waterproof, which I also found helps keep out sand and dust. I got them in Deep Teal, which is very vibrant and pretty

These shoes go the distance

I like these shoes for long hikes; the light-weight design partnered with firm soles keep the feet comfortable. Soles grip well on rocks and the gusseted tongue helps to keep out sand and dirt.

    Nice looking shoes

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Bought these for a friend for her birthday and she loves them. Nice to see a hiking boot with some colors too.
