No lock is impervious; motivated by quick cash, the bicycle black market harvests career thieves dedicated to separating you from your valuable possessions. Slowing bottom feeders are many deterrents such as U, chain, and cable locks like the Abus uGrip 560.

Preferred when convenience and practicality are priorities, Abus' 25in-long uGrip 560 Cable Lock is lighter than a full beverage can and folds easily for quick storage. That's due to a highly flexible, 8mm-steel cable layered under Abus' tool-thwarting technologies and a soft-touch elastomer coating to preserve bicycles' finishes. Intended for low-risk areas, the uGrip 560 is a lightweight security solution for circumstances where basic protection is required.

Used in conjunction with heavier-duty models, the uGrip 560 cable lock will keep wheels and saddles where they belong when parked in high-risk zones. Abus coats the uGrip 560 in many colors, and it provides two keys for the tamper-resistant cylinder.

Strong lock - hard to cut with Sawzall.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

OK, I have had this lock for about 5 years and I really liked it. The key broke off in side the lock recently and I had to cut it - it was really tough. Had a few people watching and a supervisor at a local building inquiring if I was legit, but since it was broad daylight and we made no bones about it we were trusted. Chain cutter (with 30 inch handles) and Sawzall plus a lot of time and finally cut through. This is not a lock that someone will just come along and cut. Recommend only for SS or fixies with bolt on wheels as it is a short lock. Locks to farme only and bike post.

Working so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My bike hasn't been stolen yet, so that's cool. There are better locks out there and ones that are less pink, but that's ok. For the price, it'll definitely work as a lock for my bar bike.

Not bad in a pinch

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This thing is fine for what it is and how much it costs. Kinda short so can be limited on securing locations, but all in all seems fine for a quick lock up.

Strong and easy to use

I bought this for my daughter so that she can ride her bike to school. She was absolutely pumped and loves it. She's 8 years old and isn't able to maneuver a giant u lock or a heavy chain, this is lightweight and secure, plus it comes in pink - it's perfect for her. That said, this would totally be a great option for any adult; commuting or just cruising down the local pub. I might suggest also trying it in pink, it's slick.

    Good lock

This is a good lock for kids. My 6 year old uses it with ease. And they have cool colors.

      Does the Job

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

It's a bit small, so if your trying to lock up a frame and wheel it can be a little bit of a pain. Good enough to lock one bike. White dirties easily, get a different color.

      Abus uGrip Cable Lock 560

Will get the job done at this price point, but as other reviewers have mentioned, it is pretty "low security".

      good

        very good

        Great (low-security) lock

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great lock if you need quick access or aren't too worried about the area you will be locking up to. The flexible cable with smooth, soft casing doesn't scratch your bike at all and can be folded around your frame easily, but still keeps its shape. I personally loop it twice under my seat and only takes about 5 seconds to take off my bike and to put it back on.

I would not trust this lock in high-crime areas because it seems like you could pop it pretty easily if you knew what you were doing. But if you are just running quick errands or live in a low-crime area then this is an awesome lock.
