Wanting to be comfortable when you’re out on your annual Fourth of July loop with your ride crew doesn’t have to come at the expense of being able to stay with the pack when the wind picks up. If classic or aero race bars are giving you numb hands or aching shoulders, plenty of other options exist. Top off your trusty pavement-seeker with 3T’s Ergonova Team Stealth Handlebar and you’ll notice the difference subtle changes in geometry can make over the long haul.
The Ergonova’s carbon fiber construction equips it to dampen fatiguing road vibrations for a more comfortable ride over time without adding unnecessary grams to your setup, in case you’re counting. The tops’ wide surface area and smooth transition into the hoods helps eliminate pressure points so you can rest comfortably before a hard effort, and the drops feature a six-degree flare to orient your shoulders in a more natural position. When you’re standing to retain speed during the flat spot of a descent, the angled shape of the drops accommodates multiple hand positions, allowing you to move around to encourage circulation if you’ve been in the saddle for a while already.
- Drop handlebar with a focus on versatility and comfort

- Q & A
3t Ergonova Team Stealth.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Buyer Beware: The bars run smaller than listed on the packaging. I bought what I thought was size 44mm (center-to-center), however they are actually 43mm. I installed the bars and I realized they felt smaller than my previous 44mm bars. I put a tape on the them center-to-center and the bar width measures 10mm shorter than what they are advertised! As far as I can tell 3t measures center-to-center on their bars like most manufacturers. If they are measuring different, then I have failed to properly notice.
The bars do feel very nice in the hand. The contours and shape are very comfortable. I believe they are a good bar just run short so buy accordingly.
I need a 44cm bar, out of luck and cannot return them. I scratched them while installing mg Dura ace Di2 shifters. Live and learn, measure before installing and read previous reviews.
A good bar, BUT not perfect!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
First of, I like this bar well enough to keep it, but for the money I wish 3T would work out some of the kinks.
-Very stiff, no noticeable flex even under the heaviest of efforts (may partially be due to stem combo, notice no 3T stem)
-Ovalized tops for comfort
-Shallow drop, great transition
-Sizing (not true to size C-C, 42 is more like a 40, had to get 44)
-Small diamater tubing in the drops, had to double wrap
-The drop ends are really short, if you ride in the drops a lot you will miss not having the extra length
-The internal routing is less than perfect. Difficult to route cables in comparison to other internally routed bars, with accute angles leading to binding
Get it if you're looking for a light, ultra stiff, low profile, racing bar with good looks, especially with Di2 or EPS, my Shimano PTFE cable sheathing got trashed during install due to aggressive routing angles.
Love wins over hate
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've used these bars for a few years now and LOVE them. The flatish top is brilliant as it allows you put your wrist in a comfortable position for you and not one the bar maker wanted as is the case with most flat topped bars. The drops are more of the same as they're more of a hybrid between traditional drops and ergo. This all means that your hands can easily find that comfort zone they deserve in either a sitting up or dropped position.
I ordered new ones for a new bike recently and found that 3T had decided to add internal cabling. Hate it! This is what happens when you attempt to improve perfection. It holds cables in place better than electrical tape but it's a pain in the rear to work with! OK, the pain is temporary and the comfort during long rides is worth it. All is good!
