NEMO Equipment Inc. Cosmo Air Sleeping Pad

Heavenly comfort.

The Nemo Equipment Inc. Cosmo Air Sleeping Pad is sure to keep you nice and cozy while you sleep whether you're camping in the summer or backpacking in fall or spring. Even though it stuffs down to about the size of a Jetboil stove, this pad's lateral I-beam baffles raise up to about three inches in order to keep you off the bumpy ground throughout the night. These baffles also offer more support and stability than most conventional sleeping pads, and the pad provides a pillow baffle for extra support at your head that doesn't add any weight whatsoever. Nemo made the pad out of a durable yet plush polyester fabric that's tear-resistant, quiet, and comfortable. An integrated foot pump lets your leg do all the work involved with inflating instead of your lungs. When you're breaking down camp for a long hike, stuff this pad in its included stuff sack so you can minimize the amount of space it takes up in your pack.

Very comfortable

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a very comfortable pad. I use it with the NEMO Mezzo loft bag and it fits in the sleeve perfectly.

Good nights rest

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Nemo has done it again. Nothing better than just having to stomp on your pad at high altitudes to pump it up. The pad gave me plenty of room, being a side sleeper. The insulation didn't let the cold through. A good nights rest is rare on the trail but with this Nemo pad I found it.

Amazing sleeping pad!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like everything about this pad. It rolls down to a very compact size for the XL30 version fitting nicely into its compression sack. I love that it has a built in foot pump which inflates it to a great firmness in seconds. The pad is very thick at 4 inches so no rocks or roots will cause me any discomfort. I'd definitely recommend this pad.

Better than sleeping on the ground!

This is the perfect sleeping pad for those overnight backpacking trips. Folds up very small and is so ligthweight taking up barely any room in your backpack. Easy to pump and doesnt take much time at all.
It was a little noisy when turning over side to side, but all worth it so you dont have to sleep on the ground.

Takes the edge off and then some

Provides good insulation and comfort. Built in pump is super easy to use. Packs up small and is light enough to pack with. Sturdy construction.

      Super cushy

This is an amazing pad that is compact, warm, soft and HUGE! Honestly the 30 XL is more pad than I (6'4" and 250 pounds) really need. Love it in every way for both self propelled and vehicle supported camping. It's a bit tricky to get it folded back down and fit in the stuff sack but that's a learning curve issue. One note - I also bought the Nemo Mezzo loft sleeping bag to integrate and this pad is too big for the system. Fortunately I had purchased a smaller sized pad for for my GF and that one (25L) fits. So she gets the system and I get a huge pad to sleep on top of ... Not a bad deal

This is my first Nemo product and it is perfect. I am 6'2 and 200 lbs. I appreciate the larger size while still being light weight and very packable.

        like a bed

I bought this for my husband who is 6ft 2...weight...sturdy like a brick wall. He is a side sleeper and always sleeps like garbage when we backpack. i researched a lot of pads and this one had great reviews for tall guys. the weight is nominal for the comfort that comes. he tested it at home and actually fell asleep and took a 40 minute nap! he has nerve damage in his back and sleeping can be very painful for him-he LOVES this pad. i already have 3 different sleeping pads myself and i am debating to nix my summer therma-rest and get one of these guys for me! it truly is super comfy-he hasnt let me test it out yet but knowing how much he loves it is worth every penny.
update-he has now fully tested this pad backpacking and he said is the best pad he has ever slept on. I am officially buying one for myself today-20R for me and he has 25L. Pumping this pad up after a long as climb was far easier for him to do a few steps and pump up is mattress then for me to blow into my thin ass sleeping pad.

        Comfortable Pad

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Awesome pad for mild weather. Foot pump option is a welcome addition and nice for cold weather so you don't have to blow into it. Reasonably light and packable for backpacking and thick and comfortable and not too loud like some. I also like the raised part for your head. I pair it with the pillow top while car camping for extreme comfort and remove it for backpacking as it doesn't pack small.

I took this car camping to big sur. easy to pump up (takes maybe 2 minutes). so darn comfy! I have never slept so good camping! I purchased with the NEMO sleeping bag and it is worth the $$. I think it would be worth the weight if you wanted to use it for backpacking.

        Worth the weight and effort

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I recently took this pad along for 5 nights backpacking in the Yosemite backcountry. I wasn't satisfied with the quality of sleep I was getting with my old Thermarest 3/4 (with sleeve). The Nemo really cut down on changing positions=more sleep. I was concerned about having to carry it inside as compared to outside my pack and although I was using a 60 liter pack w/ down bag, 2 person tent, stove, fuel, rain gear, a change of clothes, fleece jacket, down vest, camp pillow, soap & pad, basin, cap & gloves, a bear canister of food, water purifier and misc. items in outside pockets, all fit well. I might add that pumping it takes about 4 minutes but to me the comfort is well worth the time and effort.

Has anyone used this for backcountry camping? I am concerned how it packs in regards to size and weight.

Yes I have. I just submitted a review that should address your concerns. This product is probably twice the weight of a foam pad but is scores of times more comfortable. Also, it comes with a little repair kit.

        Slept So Nice!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was doing a little car camping with some friends last weekend and wanted to share what a killer comfy pad this is! I slept in total luxury in the back of my truck on this NEMO Cosmo Air Sleeping Pad. The integrated foot pump made it super easy to air up and the baffling created such a comfortable bed. Super stoked on this brand!

I saw these at trail days a couple years ago, and bought one from Nemo directly. Mine was one of the first, and as such I expected to encounter some glitches. After many many nights of comfortable sleep, some of the baffles separated and I ended up with a big blister in the middle. I called Nemo, they sent me a new one, haven't had a problem with it since. I am a big guy, 235 lbs, 6'2", and I was comfortable sleeping on my side with this pad. Plus, the built in foot pump keeps you from losing consciousness trying to inflate it.
