Why We Built The Wasatch Ripstop 3.5in Short
"The belt sits in the perfect place and doesn't get in the way of my harness or backpack. When I want to wear it higher, I can cinch it in for a tighter fit." —Gearhead® Expert Jo
We designed the Wasatch Ripstop Short for venturing along lightly trafficked singletrack that leads to hard-earned views. The built-in stretch gives us room to straddle over fallen trees, and the lightweight fabric brushes off overreaching brush and quickly dries away summit drizzles.

Changed from Old Version
I am so bummed backcountry has changed the fit of these shorts from an older version. I ordered a new pair thinking they would fit the same but they are tighter and do not look as good as my last pair. I am bummed because they are otherwise such a nice color!

Fave Summer Short
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I wore these non-stop this summer. I love the ripstop material - they're durable and quick dry. I have the lavender color and black and they are so flattering. The drop hem in the back gives a bit more coverage. The integrated adjustable belt is a great feature, and it's not obstructed by a climbing harness or backpacking waist belt. I am typically a small, but would recommend sizing down to an XS since they run large. Perfect for any summer adventure from river to rock. Bring on the warm weather!

Comfortable and flattering

These shorts fit well. They give me a nice shape to my straight body due to the belt and how they curve up around the hem line. I am going to get another pair

The Perfect Outdoor Short
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
After a long, long search, I feel like I've finally found the perfect outdoor short. It's high-waisted, it has large, zippered pockets, you can adjust the waist for a great fit, and it dries fast without feeling like you're wearing a pair of board shorts. These fit true to size for me, I normally wear a size 2, 25-26 waist and these fit well with no gapping and I feel like I have some room should I gain a few pounds. I got the black but am highly considering additional colors before they sell out!

These shorts are everything
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These are the perfect hiking short. They are fantastic quality and are comfortable. I am usually between a small and medium in shorts and the small fit perfectly where I have enough room but don't feel like I'm squeezing into them. The adjustable waist is also very helpful. I hope they restock because I will be buying more colors!

I usually wear a L in pants. Sadly the shorts run very large, so I had to return them.

Perfect summer shorts
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I recently wore these shorts almost nonstop during our last week long vacation. They are very comfortable, never look wrinkled, and the pattern is fun. I normally wear an extra small, and this size fit perfectly, with a little bit of ease.

Its all in the title but definitely fits larger. I'm a size 6/28" and I got a size small. I plan on wearing these every day.

Summer Staple
- Familiarity:

These shorts are great for staying cool and mobile on the trails! I agree with the other reviewers that these run a tad large. I consider myself a larger medium and the mediums are a bit roomy. Considering the loser fit is better for agility, I don't mind it. Plus they have a belt to cinch around the waist. Pockets could be a litter bigger. I wish they still came in the green and black color!

Terrible Sizing
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The material of the shorts is good, and so are the features, but the fit is terrible. I usually wear a small or medium and the size small swims on me. They ride up very high and are uncomfortable. Really wanted to like these but would not recommend them.
