The Cosmo is lightweight and easy to change from low beam to high beam and vice versa. It is also fairly priced. Buy it!
Good headlamp.

Has high beam and low beam, although both are extremely bright. I was actually fiddling with it the other night and discovered that it has a strobe function, for both high and low beam settings (this is helpful, because battery life is longest with strobe). I had no idea that this lamp had a strobe setting – simply double click the on/off toggle switch while it's already on, and the opposite beam will be turned on in strobe mode. Not the best way to do it in my opinion, but hey, the feature is there. I dig this lamp.

This head lamp is really one of the best ones that I have had. I love anything with the BD name so it made it that much better too. It really gives off a good bit of light on high and low and makes it easy to do many things in the complete dark. I not only use this for camping but also when Im under my truck and cant see something
Very good, would recommend.

Has a wide beem and more focused beem and can change brightness level. Also has flashing beem. Some reviews I read said it falls off easily but I have never had a problem.
don't get lost in the dark

I use this headlamp for everything, early morning tours, late evening climb/hike offs, it's-just-around-the-corner-a-couple-more-minutes (until well after dark) backpacking adventures, deep playa late night discoveries, not getting killed biking home on the salt lake streets after the bar, and everything in between. Multiple settings for the nights (and mornings) when bright is too bright, and the batteries last for generations.

I got this for my 5 yr old daughter to use while camping and ended up using it the whole time for myself. Great little light.
Not worth it

So I got this headlamp, and after a few days the tiltable mount that holds the lamp to the headband broke. I did not drop it, sit on it, etc. It just broke. Also, the spot beam is not really noticeably brighter than the flood beams, and doesn't carry much further. I returned it, it was too flimsy. I currently have a Princeton Tec Aurora. The Aurora is much more durably built, and its high output illuminates things further away than the Cosmo's spot beam, and is as wide as the Cosmo's flood. Overall, it seems to be a much better choice. Also, I dropped it last night onto a hard floor with no damage to the lamp. I was always paranoid of dropping the Cosmo because you could just feel it was going to break, and it did break without even being dropped. Overall, you can get something more durable and brighter for the same money, don't bother with the Cosmo.

Not a lot to say. Works extremely well. Read the manual though- I almost didn't and spent the first three nights thinking there were only two functions.
Useful headlamp.

This lamps generates a good amount of light for the weight and size. I used it on a recent camping trip and it was very handy. I needed it to help find my way back to camp for the final three miles of a trail and I was pleased with its performance. It is nice around the house, too. This was my first headlamp.
good enough

Bought this for biking around town at night and for that it does just fine. Beam is adequate for projecting far enough ahead that you dont hit pot holes and what not. Others have complained about hinge on light breaking but i have been throwing it into my bag wherever with books and other rigid objects around it and have not had a problem yet.

Great Light. This was the perfect light for me. I rock climb, go caving, camp, and anything else outdoors. I got lost during the day after hiking to a mountain lake, and had to find my way in the dark. This light was PERFECT!! The spot light is bright and the flood lights are great around camp. I use it all the time, and my friends are jealous, and some have even bought one for themselves.
Very solid

Used this headlight for camping and hiking and it performed very well. It was even quite handy when I wanted to go cycling at night. Unless you're doing some hardcore hiking or cycling through the bush at night then this is all you'd need. Note: I originally pruchased the Spot, but was sent this accidentally. Backcountry refunded me for the Spot and told me to keep Cosmo. Thanks guys, awesome service!!!
Good lamp, be careful with the clip

Good lamp but the clip broke on the first use. It only broke on one side so the lamp is still functional, just more delicate now. I have much respect for BD and am sure they'd make me whole if I took the time to send this back but it hasn't been a big enough deal to get me to the post office. In terms of light, this lamp is great. Have used it for getting some extra miles in after dark on backpacking trips and I always carry this one when climbing longer multi-pitch routes just in case.

Black Diamond outdid themselves on this one. It has a high beam which is intense, a regular beam which is brighter than most and a flashing mode for dancing or emergencies or something. The clip didn't hold the lamp on there as well as expected but the tilt mode worked fine. I recommend it out of all BD"s lamps.

I've used this headlamp on four backpacking trips this summer, it is excellent for the money. I hiked about 4 miles with it in the dark on an approach to Mt. Whitney, and came out free of turned ankles. I like the different beam settings, I find my self using all of them depending on conditions. Good product.

Bought two of em a while back and they're still working, sans problemas, years later. I've used these on night trail runs/hikes, night climbs on local crags, emergency tire-changes in a VT blizzard, and finding my keys in the grass, among other things. Cheap and effective. Why buy something more expensive when the cheaper option works great?

Me and my bother traded headlamps, his Cosmo for my old Petzl, because he said he wanted a water-proof headlamp for spelunking. For a couple day's after I questioned his sanity, giving away a headlamp like this! Then I realized that he had 2. This is a very nice headlamp, great quality, super bright, will get you through a cave, a early summit bid, or just about anything thing else that could happen in the dark! Just the kind of thing I would expect from a company like Black Diamond!
Great for the price...

I bought this headlamp for my fiance. She likes it, and I think it's a good little headlamp, but switching between settings is confusing and we never really know what's going to happen when we turn the headlamp off then back on. I have a Princeton Tech right now and it changes with successive pushes of its button, which I think is brilliant. Overall, we think the Cosmo is a great headlamp, especially at the price. I'd recommend it to anyone who needs a basic headlamp. The greatest asset is that the light is very bright and does not get in your eyes, which was the most annoying thing about my very first headlamp (an Energizer from Walmart, haha).
Good headlamp, works as expected

It's a head lamp it works, and is comfortable. On the highest setting you can cycle along dark roads in the night without too much trouble, although it is probably unsafe.

After seeing the '08 Best Buy' for this headlamp I thought I would give a try. This is a great headlamp. Everything I needed and the light was always where it needed to be - and bright!

frustrated with my old petzl headlamp and it's lack of brightness, I bought this one and have been sotked ever since. Super bright, ligthweight, doesn't bounce when you run with it on.

Dude for a couple of bucks you are getting a simple (read: not gonna break some unnecessary feature) and strong light for those little tasks that everyone needs to do around the ol campsite. Re-adjusting the rain fly, not stepping on cacti on the way to/from the late night sand watering, destroying man eating insects inside the tent, etc. You could probably easily hike around the woods all night with this pup, but that's what the moon and stars are for.

I love this light. It's lightweight and incredibly durable. I like the fact that you just push the button to cycle through the light strengths. It also fits comfortably on your head.

Great light for backpacking or getting off of a climb late. It is super bright and light weight. Haven't had any problems with the little guy. A must have in any pack.

Came with the wrong color strap, but BC is forgiven for that one. Great light with enough power for night runs and gets dim enough for reading. I like that it's easy to unclip from the strap.

I thought this headlamp would be kinda mediocre at its price, but I was pleasantly surprised! The two modes produce strong beams of light and you can even set different degrees of brightness + flashing mode -> multiple uses: for camping, working around the house and riding a bike.
