Broke on first use
The stitching which holds the elastic band broke on first use. The way they stitch the elastic band, after a closer look, is weak just a few threads holding it.

Strap broke in 1 hour
The straps under shoe broke on first hike with both of the gaiters - weird that this was even developed.

Love these ultra-lite weight gaiters

Read the reviews and understand how others have issues. I have somewhat of a contrarian view, having worn them on two separate week-long trips on sections of the AT in Georgia and day hikes in Texas. My experience is: 1) strap hooks take a little effort to undo the "fish hook" fastener, gets easier w/ practice 2) I use a micro-carabiner to secure the front of gaiter to boot laces 3) durability has not yet been an issue for me 4) these gaiters keep dirt and debris out of my boots when hiking For a pair of gaiters that weigh in at 2 ounces I'm very satisfied.

Ripped after first use

Was so excited with this purchase and then super disappointed after my first hike to find a tear in them. I didn’t even go through anything I would have thought would risk tearing these gaiters. I was on trail the entire time. I still use them because it’s better than nothing. Do not recommend, don’t waste your time with these.

Decent with one big flaw

tl;dr avoid as the hooks are super annoying to deal with, especially with laces for any boots--they are OK with sneaker type shoes but still grab way too aggressively and are very hard to remove. These are fairly comfortable (read: cool/not sweaty) for gaiters of their height, and held up well for about two seasons of backpacking. However, the lace hook is absolutely horrific with almost all the laces I've tried--once it's on, it won't come off, to the point of needing other people to help me try to pull the hooks off. I don't know which shoes they tested these gaiters with, but they must have had the smallest diameter laces I've ever seen. Even the strap that goes around the boot and hooks on the gaiter itself is often impossible to remove--I've taken to just slipping them off with my boots. Frustrating, to say the least.
