Why We Like The Venture TCS Tire

Among WTB's most versatile drop bar tires, the Venture delivers optimal performance across a wide range of conditions to serve as a truly set-it-and-forget-it gravel tire for riders who demand traction on any surface they ride. Elevated centerline ridges provide consistent working edges that dig in whether hammering up a climb or leaning into a turn. Two rows of outer knobs provide confidence regardless of how hard you’re cornering while also providing substantial sidewall protection. Venture is the tire of choice when the destination is unknown but you’re sure to encounter a variety of terrain along the way.

    • Versatile gravel tire that excels on a wide range of surfaces
    • Rounded profile with vertical channels improves cornering grip
    • High volume casing provides a comfortable ride on rough roads
    • Dual Compound Rubber rolls fast and grips well in any conditions
    • Tubeless ready, but can also be run with inner tubes

    Too many flats

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I received 9 punctures within the first 2 weeks of riding these tires on mixed gravel and paved roads. No amount of tubeless sealant could keep these tires rolling. Never in my 20 years of riding bikes have I experienced a tire so prone to punctures. If you risk gravel riding on this tire make sure to pack extra repair supplies because you will use all of them - and ride with friends, because you will need theirs too!!

I reached out to WTB before leaving this review and was informed that I did not receive a defective tire and that they consider 9 flats in a week on brand new tires "just part of riding"..... I feel bad for anyone with WTB tires on their wheels because 9 flats in a week does not actually have to be "just part of riding" - plenty of reliable options on the market that won't shred themselves apart as soon as they touch the ground.

Don't believe the marketing hype - this is NOT the "Adventure/Gravel" tire you are looking for

    Pretty good tire.

I have about 1k miles on these (700x40) so far in everything from road riding to super chunky gravel events like Keystone Gravel in PA to smooth and fast gravel in Kansas and Iowa. I run them at 38lbs and I'm ~175lbs. I think I still prefer the Riddlers to these, but I'll definitely run these until they wear out. No problems w/ puncturing any area of the tire. They mount up easily and hold air w/o concern, using Stans fluid. Oh and I'm on the original version, not the new SG2.

    Disappointing all the way around

I used this tire for two rides...

I was riding on custom FSE gravel wheelset @ 35 Front/37 Rear.

The first day no technical problems, but I felt that the grip in heavy gravel sections was poor....So bad that I crashed in a fast downhill corner that I've ridden a handful of times without problems. It rolled fast on pavement and hard dirt, and did ok on rough Jeep trails, so I kept them on for the next day.

On the second day I flatted this tire 3 times within 3 miles (once in the front, twice in the rear). Two chips out of my carbon gravel rims. Sidewall and Tread punctures. Total disaster.

WTB tires are very hit or miss for me. Resolutes are great, Riddlers were similar to this tire.
