Bigger is better.

WTB decided to venture into the momentum-gaining 27.5+ category, adding a brand new model to its popular, versatile Trail Boss Line. The Trail Boss TCS Light FR 27.5 Plus Tire stands on its own among the group with burly knobs and three inches of plush width that empower it to make its own lines across terrain.

WTB uses its Dual DNA rubber compound and pliant Lightweight casing to construct the tire, which is shaped in a rounded profile with defined cornering channels. The firmer center and softer sidewalls keep the tire responsive on the flats and connected to the ground while carving through switchbacks, while squared-off, openly-spaced lugs also lend plenty of confidence while railing corners in trail conditions ranging from slick granite to sloppy mud. As a finishing touch, the tires feature WTB's Tubeless Compatible System (TCS) bead for easy, reliable seating and excellent flat protection when paired with TCS sealant.

I had pretty good luck with these tires. Pretty good for a 3.0 tire. I usually run maxxis and found these to be pretty comparable. I would run them again.

    Best rear plus tire.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been through 3 trail boss 27.5x3.0 tires. Combine the trail boss with a WTB bridger up front and you have the best 27.5x3.0 combo.

    Weak sidewalls

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a somewhat heavy tire with really thin, weak sidewalls. Thats a lose, lose situation. Got a pinch flat right on the bead that won't seal up with stans. Since the walls are so thin, you have to use a much higher PSI which gives you a harsher ride. The tread pattern is very round with a low profile. Didn't get the traction i was hoping for.
