Wilderness Systems Tarpon 135T Kayak - Sit-On-Top

Find your happy place.

If wide-open waters, glassy lakes, and secret coves sound like your cup of tea, then saddle up the Wilderness Systems Tarpon 135T Sit-On-Top Kayak and paddle out to better waters. Fully rigged for a day out on the lake, the Tarpon 135T features a tandem sit-on-top design with comfortable, padded seats for all-day comfort during your longest paddling trips.

Large foot braces give your legs a place to rest when you're paddling through chop, and molded-in cup holders give your beverage a secure place to rest when you need both hands on your paddle to navigate rough waters. In terms of storage, the Tarpon 135T is fitted with two small hatches for both paddlers, giving each a place to store valuables in a secure and dry place. Large bow and stern tankwells will swallow all of your dry bags, rain jackets, and sunscreen when you're planning on being out for most of the day, and they are rigged with bungee straps to keep everything on board. Wilderness Systems even threw in Slidetrax rails on the bow of the boat, which can be used to fit rod holders, if you're planning on doing any fishing from your Tarpon 135T.

Great gift for Mom and Dad

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My brother and I recently purchased this kayak for my parents for their anniversary, they love it!

This is what they have to say about it: We finally graduated from our 25 year old Wilderness System Pamlico Tandem to our new Tarpon Sit-On-Top, and I have found that they are very different boats in many ways. Of course the Tarpon is really designed for warm weather paddling with the Sit-On- Top design, you really do get wet in any type of choppy water. We found this especially true for the front person when heading directly into the waves with the “4 hole” drainage system located right in front of the seat. Speaking of seats these new Air Cushion seats are really very nice for long days paddling with many adjustments to get them perfect for each person’s liking. Dry storage areas located in the front of each of the seats are very well designed and positioned, though if you want to access something quickly you better tie it off to the provided loops so the item does not migrate out of reach, these are large storage areas that extend the back and front of the boat. The Tarpon is a very stable boat and quite easy to paddle, though a little bit on the heavy side to carry at approx. 85lbs, it does track nice when you are moving in the water. As with all Wilderness system Kayaks the construction is excellent and expectations are we will have this new Tarpon for another 25 years.
