Wetfly Nitroglass Fly Rod - 3-Piece

Slow down.

You didn't wake up at 5 a.m. just to dump your cast across the back of the first rising trout you spot rising on a slow-moving spring creek. With modern fly rods becoming faster and faster, it can be tough to find a slow-action rod that makes it easier to make those delicate presentations where any extra energy in your cast will send ripples across the water, sending any trout within a 50-foot vicinity to the nearest cutbank. The Wetfly Nitroglass Fly Rod's relaxed tempo has a more forgiving feel than modern graphite rods and will make floating your fly within the feeding lane of wary trout with minimal surface disturbance a whole lot easier. And since the rod's fiberglass bends deeply into the butt section of the rod, you'd better be ready for the fight of a lifetime if that 20-inch brown you spot slurping cripple duns takes your fly.

  • A fiberglass rod great for fishing small creeks and rivers
  • Relaxed casting tempo excels at delicate dry fly presentations
  • Cork handle with burl wood insert has a classic look and feel
  • Protective rod tube and cloth included

Slow Down

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am relatively new to fly fishing and the Nitroglass (3 piece 3wt) is my second rod purchase, for the smaller and subtler fishing scenarios. I love the slow action of the fiberglass as opposed to my fast 5wt. And this is a beautiful rod that comes with everything to keep it protected. I haven't caught too many fish with it yet but it has landed some smaller Brookies and Rainbows with ease. I hooked into an 18" to 20" inch Rainbow at one point and the rod held its ground. I really love this rod and would recommend it to anyone interested. Only suggestion is know how to care for glass- I almost messed up by cramming the ferrules together- there is supposed to be about a 1/4" gap. Just an FYI ;)

Nothing says relaxing like the tempo of a fiberglass rod, but this isn't just any glass rod. It's not your grandpa's dusty, 1980's St. Croix that's been in your garage for 15 years. This rod cool. This rod is hot. This rod drives an old station wagon with a 6.2 Hemi under the hood. It has the power to punch out super long casts, but with the forgivingness to still lay that line down like butter. The 8', 3 piece construction allows it to pack small, too, which makes this the perfect weapon for those alpine lakes you've been eyeing all year. Ladies love it. The fish love it. I love it, and you will too.
