First Shiny Reel

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So this reel was the first that I purchased. I paired it with the 3wt Nitroglass rod (Wetfly) and cannot complain. I really can't cause I don't have much to compare it to-couldn't justify 5 stars with little other experience. I do love this reel though, it is smooth and intuitive, the drag is easily accessible, and it looks great. Not sure that I could recommend or discredit this reel with my lack of experience but I don't think it is a poor investment at all.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have this in a 3/4 and 5/6 and both provide great drag and performance for Colorado trout and long casts. Easy drag adjustment and smooth reel make feeling the fish very intimate. You need one!

Thanks for the review Ryan! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

Great reel!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

My parents recently moved from Utah to North Carolina. My dad loves to fly fish and was looking for a reel to use in the freshwater rivers and on the coast . He decided this was his best option. So far, he's loving the reel! For the price, this reel can't be beat, so pick one up today!

The listing options describe the reel as 'one color'.
Are the reels as pictured - silver and blue?

Hi Sam,

The reel is going to come in the Silver/Blue color that is pictured. The 'one color' option is just to denote that there are no other choices for color available. Please reach out to me directly if you have any other questions and I'll help you out. -Matthew Pizza - Expert Gearhead

Wet fly nitrogen review!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

hey everyone my name is Matt I'm from Tampa fl and i recently purchased the nitrogen one. For the price of this reel you can't beat it. I am a saltwater fly fisherman and as all fly fisherman we all know how pricey it gets $$$ but with back country having this reel at a unbelievable great price I decided to purchase one. Before I purchased this reel I wanted to know if it was rated for saltwater. So I called a gear head and talk to him for awhile and we both search the web to find that spec on the reel. Nether one of us could find it searching every website up and down. So I told the gear head "Jeff"that was helping me that I would keep searching so I could get him that information. I finally message a guy at wet fly the direct maker of the nitrogen 1 reel. He informed me that the reel has a sealed drag and is rated for salt. So the next day I purchased my reel stoked on that new fact. I called Jeff back and left him the message about the reel. He soon called me back thanking me on going above and beyond to find that out. My over all buying experience was great, when I get some extra money I will buy another one of these reels. I use it everyday and properly maintain it . I have not had one issue yet I love it,The overall design and function is great. So for all you saltwater fly guys this reel is great and affordable ! Double thumbs up and thanks again to Jeff for the awesome customer service! The photo im sharing is kind of blurry but it's my first snook on the new reel.
