Terreno Dry G2.0 Tire

Conditions have been dismal in the dry spell. Scorching summer sun has left the old rail trails, country roads, and gravel grinds parched, and coated with dust that is sent flying with every rotation of your tires. Your mud-ready hoops are feeling a bit out of place, to throw on Vittoria's Terreno Dry G2.0 Tubeless Tires to elevate your grip in the fine silt and sand. The Terreno Dry features a dry-condition specific treat with "fish scale" center that rolls quickly, and shoulder knobs that grip into the dust to elevate your braking control and cornering grip.

This particular version comes with Vittoria's TNT casing, which easily seals up for running lower air pressure and gaining bump compliance in tubeless form. The 3C rubber compound includes Vittoria's exclusive G2.0 Isotech for smoother rolling, longer tread life, and outstanding traction across off-road surfaces. For a bit more protection across rugged ground, the sidewalls are reinforced from punctures and inconvenient flats.

Does What It's Supposed To

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've found these tires to be about as perfect a gravel tire as anything else out there. Bought them in a 38c, which were 40mm wide mounted on a rim with a 25mm internal width. Mounting was smooth and easy. Next, let's talk about grip. The hexagonal file tread through the center of the tire does a nice job of braking on gravel surfaces, while keeping the rolling resistance low, even on pavement. After four months, the center tread started to wear off on the REAR tire. However, that is no different than any other REAR tire with tread, as the rear is used for both braking and accelerating under power. The center tread on the front tire is still going strong. This is a good thing, because control comes from the front tire while steering and braking, while the loss of tread on the back tire yields even lower rolling resistance. Pertaining to both front and rear, the knobs on the edge do keep an edge while leaning into corners. And they've held up remarkably well after six months of use. Lastly, I'll mention puncture protection. I've done most of my riding these past six months in northwest Arkansas, where the gravel can be sharp and pointy. And I've raced these tires at both Unbound 100 and Lil' Sugar gravel races. I've not flatted once.
