Keep it tight.
Troy Lee Designs is known for its moto-inspired DH gear, but this old dog has a few XC-ready tricks up its sleeve, too. The Ace Men's Short without Liner, for example, is a lightweight, stretchy, and close-fitting pedaler's short that pairs well with carbon frames, clipless pedals, and 4in travel so you can ride hard and long without getting bogged down by excess fabric or hung up on trailside trees and shrubbery.
The stretchy polyester construction is engineered with welded seams, the better to prevent chafing and discomfort during long hours in the saddle. It's also highly breathable and moisture wicking, so you don't sit in a puddle of sweat, and features laser-cut inseam perforations to help you stay cool when the pace gets as hot as the sun. The elastic waistband and laser-cut side stash pocket keep bulk to an absolute minimum, but Troy Lee does include a zippered pocket at the back for a snack, phone, or multitool.
- Sleek XC mountain bike shorts
- Close-fitting to avoid snagging
- Liner free to let you choose your own chamois
- Laser-cut perforations for ventilation
- Two side pockets and a zippered security pocket
- Q & A
Thinner material and shorter
I love my previous design Ace short from these. This ACE short is shorter on the thighs and the material seems way thinner. I ended up returning these and got the Ruckus short from troy lee. I enjoy getting a good climb, and still putting on knee guards and destroying the DH. Im sure this ACE short is amazing for the xc, but I was worried one fall and these will tear apart. Plus these have no zipper or a button. Seem like they cut the costs designing this premium short from the last ACE
