Jones MTB Snowboard Boot

Designed through rigorous testing on the world's most demanding terrain, the ThirtyTwo Jones MTB Snowboard Boot represents the evolution of backcountry touring performance. Innovative design features such as a waterproof-stretch zippered gaiter and Walk Mode collar with Boa cuff release make this boot essential for serious splitboarders looking to push the boundaries of what's possible in the mountains. Recoil flex control is an adaptable insert for controlling just how stiff you'd like this boot to be, from touring a bit mellower terrain to extra-stiff flex for hitting steep chutes and alpine faces. The Elite liner with Intuition foam heat-molds to your foot and provides the support and comfort needed for long tours in the backcountry. Additionally, you'll appreciate the aggressively lugged Vibram sole, complete with a heel welt for use with both strap and clip crampons.

  • Head to technical backcountry objectives with these splitboard boots
  • Recoil flex control inserts customize stiffness for versatility
  • Walk Mode with Boa cuff allows longer strides while skinning up
  • Lugged Vibram sole with heel welt for use with crampons
  • Elite liner contains Energy foam to resist flex breakdown
  • Intution foam in liner heat-molds for a custom, foot-wrapping fit
  • Stretch-waterproof gaiter protects laces from freezing
  • Molded toe cap reinforces boot from premature wear

We'll See...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 9.0

As someone coming into my 3rd season of splitboarding and in the market for new boots, I jumped on a great deal and was able to get a new pair of Lashed boots in 9.5 (my usual size) and these in 9.0, figuring it would be nice to have the variety.

I'm a sucker for unique tech, and the walk-mode really caught my attention: it truly makes a world of difference being able to extend your stride by a few degrees. The gaiters are also nice, but they do make it tricky to access the lower part of the laces when tying/untying them and I wish they opened up more when unzipped.

Granted these are a tad small and a much stiffer boot than I'm used to, but I spent a comically long time walking around the house in them during quarantine and had the liners heat-molded as well and they're still absolute vices on my feet. I've only done one quick tour in them and half of a resort day (to further break them in) but so far the break-in period has been brutal. I read a review from a guy who said he loves them for touring...but it took about 30 days before they really felt nice. We'll see...
