A bear of a bag.

Whether you're using your campsite as a basecamp for alpine touring or backpacking through a winter wonderland, the nights get cold. Sleep in the Therm-a-Rest Polar Ranger -20 Degree Down Sleeping Bag for a cozy refuge when you're ready to get off of your feet. The 800-fill down lofts when you pull it out of its compression sack, and the Nikwax treatment helps it resist compressing when you expose it to moisture. Features like the side vents that allow you to use your hands and the synthetic-filled snorkel hood that keeps your face warm without trapping in the moisture from your breath optimize this bag for extreme conditions—whether you're riding them out while sleeping or enjoying a sunrise drink.

  • Sleeping bag for backpacking in cold conditions
  • 800-fill down lofts to maximize warmth retention
  • Nikwax treatment resists moisture-based compression
  • Synthetic-filled, snorkel hood manages frost from breath
  • Side vents open to allow arm use or airflow
  • Draft tubes block gusts from all the zippers
  • Toe-asis adds extra insulation to warm your feet

Super warm, fluffy sleeping bag!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I am a very cold sleeper and was looking for a bag to keep me warm in cold conditions. This bag might sound extreme because it is for -20 F, but for me, it kept be very comfortable at 32 F. Generally, for cold sleepers, it is best to add 20 degrees to a lower rating temp rating to get an idea of what is the lower limit of comfort. I used this recently on a trip to Bryce, and the nights can be very cold. I wore a thin long sleeved shirt and long pants and socks and slept in this bag. Fully zipped, it was very hot for sleeping at 32 degrees, but it is easy to adjust the temp by venting the zippers on the sides and opening the snorkel. The bag is really long for me at 5' 4", and also very wide since this is a unisex bag that is also meant to fit men. But, the roominess worked out because i like to toss and turn while i sleep and i had room to sleep on my sides. In terms of weight and compression, it weighs about 3 lbs and can compress to the size a little bigger than a soccer ball. It isnt the most compact bag or the lightest, it is definitely warm and i see myself using this on many trips in the future!
