Put it on and leave it on.

Layering isn't easy, but The North Face's Women's Ventrix Insulated Jacket simplifies that hot-cold-hot rollercoaster you've been riding since the trailhead. This synthetic insulated coat uses laser-perforated panels under the arms and on the back to dump heat during high-output activities, so you can put it on and leave it on. The slim fit slides right under your hardshell when the snow starts to fall, and the polyester-based insulation retains its warmth even if it gets a little wet.

  • An insulated jacket for varying climates
  • Durable outer fabric is ready for wear and tear in the mountains
  • Synthetic insulation stays warm even when wet
  • Perforation under the arms breathes well
  • Slim fit makes layering a breeze
  • Zippered pockets hold plenty of snacks

Favorite Jacket ever!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Small

This jacket is outstanding, and I am so pleased I chose this one for my midlayer. It is an excellent midlayer and even does a decent job being the top layer if I wear a lightweight rain jacket underneath ( atypical maybe but works for me). I have used the jacket numerous times in mid20 temperatures. It is outstanding for warmth and I never overheat!
The jacket’s best feature is it’s comfort! It is so soft, it is the jacket I always reach for first now!
Sizing: I generally wear an XS or a S depending on the company. In this jacket, since it runs fitted in the torso, you likely will need to pick your normal size ( but the larger of the two). If you plan on any thick sweatshirts etc underneath, then I would size up a size.

Not a Fan of the Sleeves

I like most everything about this jacket apart from the sleeves. The jacket is a good midlayer piece, material is nice, and does the job it is designed too. However, the sleeves are too bulky for my taste and wish they tapered more around the wrist.

The best lightweight midlayer

This jacket is THE.BEST. I did a lot of research on it vs. similar offerings from patagonia, arc'teryx, OR, etc. and am so glad I tried this one. The red color is actually much nicer in person, a lovely bright cherry red w/fig on the inside. It is so lightweight it feels like you're not even wearing a coat, yet you're instantly warm--it's perfect for 40 degrees and up by itself, but is warmest when worn with a shell. In colder weather I pair mine with a wool layer and/or my softshell for outdoor activities, and my Kavu sundowner jacket/columbia parka for around town. Because its so light I don't look like the staypuft man in any of the pairings. It is wearable from fall all the way through spring. Best of all, I am always too hot or too cold, and have NEVER sweated in this jacket. It regulates body temperature wonderfully--whether you're walking the dog or skiing/snowshoeing/etc. It may look more techy than some of the other offerings, but it is made of stronger material and doesn't rip. The sleeves are really well reinforced, and the different color reinforcement isn't as noticeable as it looks in some of the pictures. Its pockets have correct placements for your hands (not an awkward angle/location), and the correct depth (including chest pocket!). I'd love a pocket on the inside next time, Northface! The length is great in the back because it covers your butt, and it doesn't ride up in front to expose your stomach when you raise your arms. So, pretty perfect for a lot of outdoor pursuits. Speaking of arms, mine are insanely long and northface sleeves are always is long enough to cover my wrists completely. All in all, great purchase. Worth the money. **Note:1: to save you the feeling of being an idiot, the care instruction tag is on the upper inside of the left pocket.

Awesome Midlayer!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Ventrix is my new favorite piece! Surprisingly warm for its weight, this kept me toasty warm on a handful of fall hikes in the Wasatch with just a thin merino baselayer and the Ventrix.

I found the fit to be on the slim side. I was initially concerned about the ability to layer, but this jacket is so warm I found myself unzipping often. I found that sizing up would be a bit too lose and not perform how I wanted it to.

I appreciated the venting in the back and underarms, though it is not comparable to pit zips. This jacket doesn’t seem too impressive until you put it on and start moving! The arms have a more durable face fabric, and I could brush against shrubs and braches without fear of a fragile tear. This would be excellent under a ski shell on sub 20 degree days or as a standalone with a merino long sleeve on 30-40 degree days.

It does a great job resisting wind and water, but it is neither windproof nor waterproof. For extra warmth, opt for the hooded version, as the neck is not very high on this piece. Great for skiing, hiking, and casual wear, I highly recommend this synthetic piece!

Awesome Midlayer!

Ridiculous Amount of Coziness

Sooooooooo cozy comfy! Wearable in a nice range of between season temperatures, from a just slightly chilly summer evening to a sunny winter day.

    Wow!

What fast shipping I ever received! Jacket fits good just a little tight under the arms but can’t wait for the cold to see how well it insulate. I will defiantly order from you guys again!

      Very warm.

This jacket is very light weight and gives off the perfect amount of warmth.

        My favorite puffy

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The North Face's Ventrix is one of 2017's best gear released. Most puffy jackets have 60 grams of insulation, but the Ventrix is stuffed with 80 grams of Heatseeker synthetic insulation. It has both warmth and weight comparable to your favorite down sweater. Not only does it keep you warm, but it has micro-vents in the back and under the arms, plus has additional durability on the front of your arms. It regulates temperature really well and I used it all fall spring and winter. I got both the hooded and non-hooded version. The hooded version is warmer, but the non-hooded is also great to have. I used it as both a stand-alone jacket down to the low 30's and as a mid-layer underneath my ski shell on really cold days in the 20's or below. I love and highly recommend this jacket!

        • Size Bought: Medium

I ordered this jacket after having a bunch of people telling me I need a jacket, it's winter time. I normally just wear a light jacket because I can't stand bulkiness. I received the jacket this morning, tried it on and never took it off! I LOVE IT! It's thin and lightweight but warm! I got the Harbor Blue and it is absolutely beautiful! I was iffy about ordering a medium as I saw a few comments say it runs small. However, I decided to get the medium anyway and it fits perfectly!

Bought this jacket for my wife and she loved the fit and the fabric. It is very flexible and breathable, making it great for any outdoor activity. It does seem to run a bit small so had to return and go one size up.

Loved the lightweight and form fitting shape of this jacket. As the tech specs suggest, it is a slim fit. The fabric is very light feeling and soft, making it really comfortable to wear. Keeps in warmth but is very breathable. It runs small.

        Great Jacket

        • Size Bought: Ladies L

This jacket is a nice midweight. It was purchased as an all-around jacket. It has long enough sleeves, is a little longer in the body than some which is nice in cold weather. It has some stretch which is great for driving or active sports. the collar is high and fits close which is nice and warm. so far, very happy with it.

An amazing jacket! Warm and breathable, which with my lifestyle is a must in functionality! I wear this jacket ski touring, climbing and running outside. The material is also stretchy and moves with your body not against. Love the quick drying feature as well. I would wear this jacket when I am active and keep my bigger down handy for just standing around camping etc.

I got this jacket knowing it was supposed to be warm, but it is so much warmer than I thought. I was planning to wear it for backcountry skiing this winter, but I've found myself wearing it almost everyday as the weather is getting cooler. It's not too bulky and seriously warm. It fits true to size and the sleeves are a bit longer, which is great for activity. Definitely recommend this jacket.

This jacket is super light weight and very warm. True to size and love the variety of colors. I got the Harbor blue and have gotten a lot of compliments.
