Continue to Disappoint

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These boots continue to disappoint me. I wonder what will happen next each time I put them on.
1. They SQUEAK so loudly with every step I take on almost every surface - wood floor, tile floor, sidewalk, wet and dry. I feel like a fool walking in these making such a ridiculous racket.
2. When walking in snow, clumps flip up off the back of the treads and end up deposited down the back of the boot. I was walking along in snow and gradually felt like the back of my calves and down to my heel were wet. I stuck my hand down the back and pulled out snow and felt my wet pants. Unbelievable.
3. Back of the boot digs into back of leg where the fabrics changes at the seam just above a little button-looking thing. Maybe this could be alleviated by tying them differently - tighter/ looser??

On the plus side
1. Easy to get on and off. I don't tie them every time. I slip my feet in and out.
2. They have been plenty warm. Never had cold feet in them.

I would absolutely return them and tried to but it's past the date.

It will do in a pinch

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: 7M

I am really disapointed in these boots. They are supposed to keep feet warm..My toes were cold in less than 20 minutes. That cold that makes you think your feet are damp when they are not.

I had to go out and buy extra heavy thick woolen socks to keep my feet warm and to fill the extra room in the boot because these run a bit large.

Comfortable, but don't keep feet warm

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These boots are very comfortable on my feet. I feel they are true to size. I usually wear anywhere between 10-11, and I ordered these in 11. They fit well with enough room for thick socks. The tread on the bottom is great, and the boots don't easily slip on ice, snow or wet floors. The laces are easy to loosen and tighten, and I can usually slip the boots on and off without untying them.

The main problem I have with these boots is that they don't keep my feet warm in cold temperatures, specifically when walking in snow. During times when I'm walking in less than an inch of snow, they seem to keep my feet warm enough. However, if snow gets on the top of the toe of the boot, I can feel the cold coming through to my feet. I wore them for 2 hours out in the snow (temp around 10 degrees and I was wearing wool socks) and my toes were frozen when I came inside. For this reason, I do not recommend this boot.

Update: No matter how thick my socks were, my feet were still cold in these boots. They performed so poorly that I ended up returning them. Thanks to Backcountry for a smooth return process! :)
