The North FaceThermoball Snow Triclimate Hooded Jacket - Men's

Stand your ground against the elements.

The North Face Men's Thermoball Snow Triclimate Parka is made to keep you comfortable from the first turns of the season until the last slushy laps in spring. The secret to its season-long versatility is the pairing of a waterproof shell with an insulated liner jacket. Wear them together during frigid mid-winter pow days, rock just the shell when it warms up in spring, or use the liner jacket as a light layer during cold nights in the city.

The outer shell is crafted with a wind- and waterproof DryVent fabric to ward off winter gales and heavy snow, and it's designed with a slightly longer cut for optimal coverage against harsh conditions. Gracing the liner jacket is ThermoBall insulation, which has the lightweight and compressible benefits of down and still insulates when wet. Fully taped seams keep water from seeping in, and underarm vents help you cool off after a leg-burning run. So whether you're slashing powder in January, carving corduroy in the spring, or just going out for après drinks, this jacket has you covered.

  • A 3-in-1 ski jacket for skiing and everyday winter wear
  • Waterproof, breathable DryVent shell combats the elements
  • Fully taped seams ensure complete waterproof protection
  • ThermoBall insulated liner retains warmth when wet
  • Zip-in compatibility lets you switch up your layers
  • Powder skirt keeps deep snow out during powder days
  • Zippered pockets keep essentials dry throughout the day

Great Jacket to ski and hike in

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I like the Triclimates for a couple of different reasons. This particular one makes a good skiing jacket and a good insulating jacket when pulled apart. The two jackets that zip together is great to reduce the bulk in the middle. The taped seams make them really watertight. Great choice!

Great jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Most expensive coat I've ever bought but worth the price. Fits snug enough that you don't feel like a marshmallow on the slopes, but roomy enough to fit a base layer underneath and still be comfortable for serious activity. Durable, lightweight material seems like it'll last forever.

Does the Hawaiian Sunset Orange jacket come with a black ThermoBall liner or an orange ThermoBall liner? Pictures show both. Thanks.

Hey Matthew, I checked in with The North Face on this. It should be the Hawaiian Sunset Orange color shell paired with a black Thermoball, there is a chance it was an earlier photo or model shown in that. I would expect to received the black thermoball with it. Hope this helps, feel free to reach me at 801.204.4547 or my email cojohnson@backcountry.com. Cheers, Connor

awesome ski jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I pair this jacket with the Patagonia R1 as a base layer and am good to go no matter how cold it gets on the mountain. Looks great and performs better. And it is all kinds of warm (without overheating) and comfortable. Helmet fits well under the hood otherwise the hood is bulky. It is removable, however. Mobility is curbed a little while bending over but that comes with the territory on longer jackets. The liner is key and makes this a true winter jacket. As a shell the jacket is plenty water-proof and breathable but I really think the value comes while the liner is zipped in. Arms are on the longer side but that is a relatively common issue for me. Considering the price and the pros vs. cons I gave this a 5-star rating but if I could drill down further I'd probably rate it right around a 4.4 or 4.5

No Phones!?!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: xl

I love my coat except there is no inside breast pocket. For those of us who ski with our phones, you KNOW they must stay warm. An inside breast pocket is ESSENTIAL!!!!!!
Also, this jacket runs small.

Great parka but it's slim fit. All my clothes are xxl while the xxl size fits fine. It just fits with no room for extra layers. Without layers it's super comfortable and nice with additional layer it's a tight fit. I wish it was a bit roomier.

    Husband loves it!

This parka has premium TNF quality; waterproof, warm, has lots of pockets, and the most important one it is not bulky! It is a little bit surprising to get such warmth from this thin material! Thermoball magic! I (and he) would highly recommend this parka for all. By the way, I should also tell about Backcountry. They have an excellent customer service. The price on their webpage was already good but after purchasing I found a slightly better price on another retailer's page and price match with Backcountry took 20 seconds! Thanks for this great shopping experience.

    Nice Jacket, versatile and warm

Purchased more of a trend type ski jacket first and when it came wasn't happy with the quality/warmth at all. Ordered this for next day delivery and was super happy. Kept my husband warm on the slopes on 0 degree day. No wind gets through. Its comfortable and actually looks flattering too. Much more practical and versatile for casual wear and skiing etc.

    loved everything except...

I loved everything about this coat except the pit vent zipper!!! Image having a zipper folded over itself and place it under your arm pit! Not comfortable at all. I wore this coat for 30 minutes to see if I liked it and my arm pits started getting sore from the zipper. This was ultimately a deal-breaker for me. The return was easy.
