The North Face ThermoBall Full-Zip Insulated Jacket - Men's

Synthetic that steals the best properties of down.

Snowshoe through the Rockies this winter in lightweight, toasty comfort with The North Face Men's ThermoBall Full-Zip Insulated Jacket. PrimaLoft ThermoBall insulation mimics the look and feel of down, trapping warmth to keep you cozy, even in extreme temperatures. It even compresses like down, so you can stow it in a pocket and take it with you wherever you go. And because it's synthetic, the ThermoBall stays warm, even when you get wet during backcountry ski session through powder.

The ThermoBall features a nylon shell that's durable enough to be worn on its own and slides easily under other layers. Its cuffs have an elastic binding to keep your sleeve from riding up your arms, while the adjustable hem tightens to prevent drafts. Pockets keep your hands warm when you reach the lookout point, and can be zipped closed to keep essentials secure on the return trip back to the car.

  • An insulated jacket for versatile outdoor protection
  • Durable, water-resistant shell for long-lasting use
  • ThermoBall insulation mimics down for intense heat, even when wet
  • Stand up collar offers extra protection
  • Adjustable hem and elastic cuffs seal out drafts
  • Zippered pockets keep essentials secure

Is this a weight jacket?

Love this Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

I love this jacket. Not only does the jacket fit me perfectly but it also looks oh so fine. It's the perfect blend of an outdoor/semi formal look. For how light it is, it keeps you very warm. It's a must buy for the price and a great investment for wearing out doors.

Maybe my expectations were to high ?

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Size Bought: Small

I normally wear size medium however having bought other North Face jackets medium is too big
Even with the small the arm's / sleeves are still too long.
The jacket isn't as warm as I had hoped.
I am an early riser taking my dogs out come hell or high water, rain or shine
That along with being a Scout Leader with the odd hike and camping trips.
I don't dislike the jacket I just thought it would be warmer

Great jacket

Like the coat! Very warm, light and fashionable.

Versatile Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Versatile jacket that works for layering or by itself on cooler days. Packs down fairly small, looks great, and comes in a lot of great colors.

Fantastic!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large

Love it. Lightweight but warm. Streamline enough to wear under a heavier garment. Note: I've been traditionally an XL in TNF clothing but I had to exchange the XL for an L in this instance. I'm 6'2" 200lbs with a 37" sleeve length and the Large is PERFECT. Backcountry was fantastic with the exchange too.

Thanks for the great review John!

Lightweight

Bought this as a gift. It's lightweight, packs down pretty small, and is a cool forest green color!

    Conditionally warm

If used on a windless, dry and cold day, or if used under a shell it is very warm and comfortable. I bought a Dryzzle (which is kind of a Gore-Tex windbreaker/rainjacket) and this works very well with it. The flaw in the design is the large amount of seams where cold air can move through. Super lightweight, but so far I am not sure if I like the style or not.

    Very loose in the arms!

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I originally purchased the large, and it was VERY large (it fit me like a potato sack!). So I exchanged it for the medium, and it was almost identical to the large except that it was shorter in height and arm span. The jacket is way to loose for my tastes, so I returned it. Very nice looking jacket though.

    Really warm

I have only worn this once, with the weather in the mid 30s, but it is really warm and comfortable! The elastic wrist cuffs being about an inch or so higher than the end of the sleeve is not terribly noticeable, but could be seen as annoying to some.

I ordered the asphalt grey/baked red colored jacket. I was very anxious for it to arrive and loved it when I did. Although, it was to my surprise the North Face logo was not red as pictured and this was disappointing.. Although I sent the jacket back, I must praise Backcountry's customer service for a great interaction and smooth return process!

I was so excited when I got this product. It worked great! I brought it with me on the AT and for the first 400 miles it was a great midlayer. Then...

The insulator packs down to almost nothing, leaving large unprotected gaps where wind can whip through. Even a small breeze can negate the fact that you have a jacket on at all. I'm replacing this piece with Patagonia's Nano air.

Great jacket. Fits as described. Just finished digging out my vehicle during a blizzard (a foot so far). Couldn't be more pleased with it's performance.

    bang for your buck!

What a great, lightweight option for most of your day to day winter outings. Pack-able enough to throw in your pack for a day of hiking, wear under a shell for a day or skiing or fishing. Obviously when the mercury dips into the teens or below, you'll want another option. Stylish, light and warm

    Cardinal Red color is orange

    • Fit: Runs large

This jacket was nice, but the Cardinal Red color is more of a burnt orange, not as pictured. Also the jacket was too loose in the body. If I went down a size it would be too tight in the arms.

    Nice Jacket

Gave this jacket as a gift and my friend really likes it. Good true to size fit and lightweight style.

The office is cold many days, this is a perfect wearable indoor or outdoor jacket, great style and fit.

    Great Midlayer or Light jacket

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this for my brother and he loves it, he needed a new midlayer and the thermoball was a perfect solution. He normally wears XL in all jackets and he got the XL in this and it fit great. Wouldn't recommend wearing this as a everyday winter jacket because it is so thin, but it is great on a warmer day.

Love this jacket so light and so warm
