The North Face Khumbu II Fleece Jacket - Men's

Not your everyday fleece.

When you need more performance than a normal fleece offers, reach for The North Face Men's Khumbu II Fleece Jacket. Ideal as a standalone layer during shoulder season hikes or as a midlayer when you're searching for fresh powder come winter, the Khumbu II delivers the quick-drying warmth you need when you're in the mountains. In order to boost its versatility, The North Face gave the Khumbu a zip-in compatible design that allows it to be worn seamlessly as a midlayer beneath complementing shells from The North Face. The relaxed fit allows it to be worn comfortably on its own when you're kicking it in camp or layered under a shell once the snow flies. Not to mention, the drawcord adjustable hem makes it easy to lock in body heat when the temperatures really plummet.

  • Midweight insulation for hiking, climbing, and everyday wear
  • Classic polyester fleece retains warmth and dries quickly
  • Drawcord hem can be cinched tight to trap body heat
  • Zip-in compatible with complementing The North Face garments
  • Relaxed fit is slightly roomier through the body

Nice heavy fleece.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: XL

I'm 6ft, 205 lbs and the XL was a decent fit with a little room to spare, could probable squeeze into an L, but I don't like stuff too tight. This is a nice, thick, warm, basic zip fleece. Didn't shed much in the wash, does hold much water, and pretty toasty. Good for cold day layering and as a stand alone with the zipper it's pretty adaptable.

Nice, soft fleece

90% of my winter apparel is North Face and I haven't been disappointed yet. This fleece is no different. It is very warm but still light. Perfect for those early spring mornings or around the office. One plus for me is that the fleece has kept its shape and size after being washed and dried. Being tall and thin, jackets and shirts that fit well are hard to find as it is...so when they lose their shape and size after being washed, it becomes frustrating. This jacket has held up very well. My only complaint about this jacket are the cuffs. They are somewhat wide and don't have any elastic. Sometimes a brisk wind comes up the sleeves making for an unpleasant walk into work. Other than that, fantastic jacket!

Great for cool nights

This jacket does what its supposed to do, great for cool nights and great as a layer for when it gets colder.

Basic Fleece Jacket

Sometimes items are what they are! This is a basic full-zip fleece jacket. It's well constructed, and I'm happy with the fit.
I bought it as a layering item to go with another NorthFace zip-in compatible jacket.

My main gripe with the garment is the lack of a chest zip pocket on the outside or inside. Makes it hard to promote this garment to a full-time jacket vs. just a liner.

I also agree with other reviewers, the black is really more of a dark charcoal gray, not black like many other NorthFace garments.

Gift for any and all

Looking for a simple yet thoughtful gift? This is the answer. Great layer under your ski coat on those cold days. Might be too thin for a winter wear around but fall and spring is when you pull this bad boy out.

Gift for my best-guy friend

The Coffee-bean color is everything! I love it. Definitely a daily wear, underneath a big coat or by itself on chilly days.

I am replacing the Black Khumbu I gave to a coworker.
I felt he needed it, regularly showing up to work with no coat, in the winter. Decided to wait till now to replace..... Sale.
Went Grey this time...... matches my Resolve Jacket.

Perfect!

Item arrived quickly and in great condition. Fits perfectly ( I ordered a small, I'm 5'10 140 lb. ) and is extremely comfortable and warm. Worth every penny!

I bought this for my grandfather. He was very happy with the gift, he says is light so when he rides his motorcycle he uses as an inner shell for an outer jacket

I bought this for my godfather. He is a very simple guy and he really like the sweater. He told me it's warm and light.

What shell can you purchase to use this fleece under?

Just what I was looking for

This was exactly what I was looking for. As I live in Los Angeles, it doesn't get cold often. This is the perfect jacket because it is light and it could also be used as an inner shell for an outer jacket. It's versatile to say the least.

Purchased this for my husband to replace a different fleece and he is very happy with this product. Keeps him warm without causing him to become too hot. I agree with a previous review that it is kind of gray but he actually likes that it isn't stark black. I would be more apt to describe it as a bit off black if you're paying attention to that but when he wears it I don't even notice. Great for layering and will get lots of use in different ways due to our odd Chicago weather!

    Great jacket

This is the warmest and best looking jacket I have ever owned. The size runs large but is ok. My wife loves to wear it when walking the dog in Bozeman,Montana says it is very warm

      I love it

I'm very pleased with my orders. Everything is exactly what I ordered & has gotten to me promptly. If you guys aren't happy, you should read the return policy. I will continue to shop on backcountry. The prices are phenomenal. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

      Not upto the mark

Expected nice color , received weird color . Doesn't fit properly and the design has flaws .

      Weird color and runs small

I bought this fleece for my son. He has another North Face jacket that fits great so I ordered the same size. It's too small plus it's not red, more like an orange color. To top it off I have to pay to ship it back. I will be buying a North Face fleece but I won't be using Backcountry again.

Just because you have a problem with what you purchased doesn't mean you need to be upset with the people you got it from. Backcountry is fantastic to work with but you have to take some responsibility.

      Hm...I'm 5'7" and 169, medium just right for me...5'6" 125 runs small ??
You must not read the return policy. BC CS always doing great to me...

Yeah sorry Rebecca. I have nothing but great things to say about BC. I just discovered them last year and I'll go out of my way to buy stuff from them because they're so awesome.

      Very nice except two things

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Pros: Very light and comfy for a 300 weight fleece. I was hoping this would become my go to fleece on a cold (but not rainy) day and I'm happy to say it has.

Cons: The "black" version is not Black. It is dark grey. At first this made me fairly mad but when I changed my mindset to being fine with a dark grey fleece...i was cool. It's actually really nice looking. The wrist bands are not closed on the wrist. They are wide open which does allow cold air to flow up the arms. Imagine the sleeve just going straight down with zero taper. The picture fooled me bc it looks like they are tight but they are not. A definite design flaw in my opinion. This flaw seems to be hit or miss with NF jackets as I saw another review for a slightly more expensive fleece where the same complaint was made. On the other hand the NF Denali that I have does not have this issue as it uses the elastic band on the wrists wisely and is snug enough around the wrists. Please note that this only bothered me at first and I've already gotton over it. I do like this jacket.
