My Favorite Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 33 short

These pants are great. I just got my third pair. I wear them to work and around town on weekends. Super comfortable, durable, warm in winter and my go to pants on Monday morning. The sizing is a little strange. I wear 33/30 pants so I had to order the 33 short. I am 5'11" and have never had to go with the short length version of any pants before. They fit great and are equal to 30 inch length pants so the Northface sizing chart is accurate. It does make me wonder why they sized the pants the way they did. The long version must be very long.

Sizing has changed

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 32L

These used to be my favorite pants. I have multiple pairs that I wear everywhere - to work, out on the town, fishing, hiking...
But it seems as though TNF has changed the "long" sizes to be several inches shorter than they used to be. The pairs that I still own fit great, but the newest pair I ordered (same size - 32L) don't even cover my ankles (I'm 6'4" and normally wear a 32x34). Bummer, because I love these pants! I'd say avoid these if you're over 6' tall.

Favorite pants, sizing changed YoY...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 32 Regular

I bought a pair of these last year in 32 Reg. Just ordered a pair in the same size and the pant legs are about 1.5" longer. According to the TNF site these have a 32" inseam in Reg and 30" in short. Not sure why they changed.
Anyways, these pants (at least the original pairI have) are great. I've worn them almost every weekend, hiked and biked in them, and they've held up very well. Extremely comfortable and very good mobility.
Side note: I also ordered these pants in a slim fit - I'll be returning those. They're not exactly tight, but they are noticeably more restrictive.

Nice Look & Quality but Size is an issue

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small
  • Size Bought: 32

I echo everyone else's review but I the size was off for me. I wear a 32 waste in every single pair of paints I've owned for at least 10 years and these are too tight for me.

Just got my second pair!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34

I got my first pair a year ago. Worn them a LOT, definitely one of my go-to pants for work (casual office), bars, and weekends. Nothing too fancy to them really, but it's a great slim fit and clean look. If you roll the cuffs up they have reflective strips, which I actually really like when biking around the city as some extra insurance.

I could live without the zipper side pocket because I've never actually used it... but it's low key enough that you can barely tell it's there so whatever.

Fits true to size, I'm pretty much always a 34 and that's what I get for these. The legs are slim, but not excessively tight.

Comfortable everyday pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34

I picked these up as a pant I can wear to work and around town, and head straight to the gym or crag in if that's how the day shapes up.
They are extremely comfortable and light. The one small zipper pocket is discreet and works well for holding small things you don't want to lose, though my smartphone barely fits.
I do love these pants for how comfortable they are, and the great fit. I'm fairly tall, slim, all legs, and these fit me perfectly.
The one downside is that they are fairly thin in the knees and butt, so I don't think they will hold up as pants that are frequently worn for climbing or rougher hiking. I've only worn them in the gym a few times, and there are noticeable abrasions where they have bumped or dragged across a hold.

Regardless, I plan on buying at least one more pair.

Super Comfy and Lightweight

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Size Bought: 34/Reg

Very comfortable. Like the taper below the knee. Four Leaf Clover color is greener than the front view picture depicts. I was expecting a lighter green.

Super comfy after a couple wears

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

When I first got these they fit almost like skinny jeans (I have thicker legs). They still had plenty of stretch and didn’t interfere with my climbing. After wearing them a few times over a few weeks they stretched a little to a more relaxed fit all around but the waste stayed perfect. I’ve had them for a few months now and been pretty rough on them and they are still looking good.

Fashion and Function

Great pants, good fit and strong quality. Really enjoy the reflective strip that is sewn into the ankles of these pants. Great way to add a little safety to your night city commutes to and from the office or bar, whatever your fancy.

Great pants for the casual workplace

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Great for the modern casual workplace.

Awesome pants

I love these pants! They look cool enough to wear while hangin with the bros, and are stretchy and comfortable enough to go tackle some boulders! The material is kinda thick and if it were extremely hot out I could see that being a minor issue, but thats the only small downside I could find!

    Different for me!

Never really owned pants like these so I can't base off much of experience but these were pretty great true to size fit and comfy all over!

      Solid Pants

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Size Bought: 36

I've mainly been wearing Prana pants the last few years, and I love them. I decided it was time to try something new and ultimately I settled on these pants. They fit well (not too tight, not too loose), and have just enough stretch to allow them to move with you easily. As with most everything The North Face the quality is excellent and I expect to have these for years to come.

      Look great, well made.

I have been disappointed by the quality of TNF pants in the past in that they either made questionable design decisions (Velcro) or the fabric just didn't last the test of time. These pants have finally achieved what I expect from TNF. They look like more modern khakis, so I can get away with wearing them at work, but they also make great casual, travel and hiking pants as well. They have held up well so far.

      i'm a fan

don't buy these. chicks like them and i don't need any competition.

        How to Measure:
For best results, take measurements over your underwear.
Measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest.
Measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.
Measure the hip circumference at the fullest part of the seat, keeping the tape horizontal around the body.
Using pants that fit well, measure the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.
        Sleeve Length:
Measure the distance from the prominent bone at center back neck, across the shoulder, over the bent elbow to the center of the wrist bone.
