The North Face Himalayan Mitten

A mitt for the world's biggest mountains.

The North Face Himalayan Mitten was truly designed to perform in the unforgiving mountains that are its namesake. The 600 fill-down and Primaloft insulation enable the Himalayan to keep your hands warm when the mercury plummets to ungodly levels while the WindStopper shell creates an impenetrable barrier against wind and water. If visiting ultra-cold environments is on your up-coming itinerary, the Himalayan Mitten is your hand's new best friend.

  • WindStopper WS blocks wind, fights water, and breathes so your hands stay dry and comfortable while you climb
  • Water-resistant leather palm provides suppleness and improved grip on ice tools
  • FlashDry liner wicks away moisture and allows it to evaporate so you stay warm and dry in the harshest conditions
  • 600-fill down and Primaloft insulate the palm and the back of the hand for ultimate warmth in even the high Himalaya
  • Articulated, molded fit with Kevlar®-reinforced knuckles ensure your hands can perform in the most hostile climbing situations
  • 5-Dimensional Fit ensures consistent sizing throughout the mitten

Super warm

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought these large as overmitts over a liner. The plan had been to have another insulating layer inside but I found I didn't need it. They seem durable but I have not particularly tortured them.

Obviously dexterity suffers somewhat but that is to be expected.

Impossible to be cold

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: S

I don't understand how anyone complains about cold hands or uses hand warmers. You are using the wrong glove. Buy these. Your hands will be sweating. Get a size smaller in my opinion. They stretch out.

Very Warm

I was looking for a great pair of ski mittens, but alas, as the descriptions indicate, these are really for cold weather expeditions. They made holding a ski pole difficult as my fingers would curl inside the mitten. A smaller size might have helped, but but I returned these and will focus my search on skiing-specific mittens. Live and learn. I can attest that they have plenty of insulation and will keep your hands warm.

Any XLs coming in before X-Mas?

    Hey Nicholas,

Unfortunately as of right now we do not have any more size XL ordered to come into stock, sorry about that!

If you seek for warmth this is it

    • Fit: True to size

Recently I have sought a warm pair of gloves since I have very cold hands. I have tried 3 arcteryx's top line gloves/mitt, but this was the warmest. Also, it gives you quite a good hand dexterity given its thickness. Printed out version of size chart is accurate.

I love these mittens. I was given them as a joke, believe it or not. I used to complain (I believe it was referred to as "whining") non-stop about having cold hands on trips up to Acadia in Maine. So, these were given to me. 9 years later, I still run the heck out of them. The soft stuff on the back of the thumb area is worn completely away now, but theyre spot on otherwise.

    Very warm.

These mittens are just fantastic. I was in the summit of Aconcágua and my fingers hot as hell can be. I love this piece of gear a lot.

Mauro asumo que eres Latino, esos guantes vienen con un guante dentro?, porque en ocaciones se necesita usar los dedos en especial para hacer un nudo...
