Will serve its purpose

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Xl

Bought as winter coat for traveling. Liked its longer length and versatility. So far so good. Many reviewers said it was too long but as I am long it fit great.

Better than I hoped

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Large

This is a great winter coat. I needed a new coat for skiing and sitting in the cold. I shopped around a lot and tried a number of jackets. I wanted it very warm and weather resistant. I didn't want it super noisy when I moved. This jacket is perfect. In fact, it's better than I hoped. The hood is removable, which I love. The hood may not fit over all helmets, but really never wear a jacket with a hood with the hood on - so I don't know, maybe it's great that way.It breathes pretty good. It has huge pit zips for when you're getting hot. It has a powder skirt - it doesn't remove but it has these little pockets on the sides with snaps where you can tuck the ends of it out of the way.
It has tons of pockets. Two low hand warming zip pockets that are cozy inside. Two button flap pockets that lay over the hand pockets. Two angled chest pockets with zipper closures. One internal phone pocket. One internal big mesh thing (for goggles, gloves, a sandwich, a small dog (if that's your thing). Lastly there's a pocket on the left sleeve with a lens cleaning cloth on a stretchy cord.
I was worried that the length would bug me but I'm loving it. It hits just below my bum.
The fabric is beautiful. It has a fine herringbone pattern to it and feels great on the hand.
It does run large. I'm wide through the shoulders and have long arms and often get an XL tops to get a good fit through the shoulders and arms. This one I got a size Large and it's perfect. If you're used to dancy-dance, tight clothes and ultra athletic fit stuff from the European brands, you're going to think this is HUGE.

Nice features but too big

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Med

This jacket has nice features... pit zips, removable hood, tons of pockets, powder skirt, etc. But it was bigger than what I was expecting. The pictures make it appear form fitting. But in actuality, it was quite blousy/baggy, especially around the mid section. It's a personal preference thing. I am sure the jacket would've performed great in the snow.

Loving my Gatekeeper Jacket!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: Medium

This jacket has worked great for me! I purchased a size medium in the jacket and it really fits me well. I really like how the jacket has a longer fit, that was something I was looking for in an everyday ski jacket. The hood can also be removed if you do not want that, which is nice option to have. Really impressed so far with how the jacket is performing and has kept me very warm out on the hill.

Great jacket as long as it fits

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked this jacket up last week to try out and there are a couple things I really like about it. First, it is definitely a warm jacket, secondly the material used for this jacket is also very stylish (I think the biggest selling point on this jacket is how classy it looks yet how functional it is).

The main downside I have with this jacket is the fit. I have a more husky fit but most jackets I can size up and they fit well. With this one it seems like there is a very large gap between the large and XL. When I put the XL on, it looked baggy and didn't look like it fit correctly at all. However, I ended up going with the large and it fits tight around my torso and feels tight when I sit down. Plus this jacket is a little long for my preference too, but everybody has different preferences on that.

To summarize, if you can find a fit that accentuates your size correctly, this is a great jacket. I just couldn't find the right size for me and I ended up going with the 'Maching Jacket' from The North Face.
