Look good in the lift line and in the fall line.

Super-techy premium ski jackets often have a super-techy look, which isn't necessarily a good thing. With The North Face Men's Gatekeeper Jacket, you get all that high-tech functionality, and you also get classic and classy looks. The textured herringbone face fabric looks so casually fashionable that you'd never guess that it is actually waterproof Gore-Tex with fully taped seams. Strategically placed clusters of PrimaLoft Thermoball insulation retains heat like a champ while 60g Primaloft insulation elsewhere provides optimal warmth while keeping a low profile for superior range of motion.

The detachable powder skirt has gripper elastic and stretch panels to keep that powder out when you're cruising the soft and fresh stuff, and it can be left behind when you're facing nasty weather downtown. The adjustable, removable hood keeps out the elements when you need it and stays out of the way when you don't, and underarm vents help you regulate your temperature when you're boot-packing up the ridge for some freshies. A wide variety of pockets is strategically designed to give all of your necessities a secure home.

great jacket

    returned was too small

    Calling this Thermoball is deceiving!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I am very disappointed with the jacket. Thermoball insulation lines ONLY the back of the jacket. The majority of the jacket is lined with inferior Primaloft Silver (i.e. sleeves, chest, and sides). It's very deceiving to call this a Thermoball jacket when only the back of the jacket is lined with Thermoball. While Primaloft Silver is a solid product, it will not insulate nearly as well as Thermoball. There are other issues: the jacket does not feature handwarmer pockets, no neck gaiter (even when fully zipped, it doesn't seal out the wind, too large of a neck opening), only one way pit zips, and the hood is not helmet compatible. I've been using TNF gear for a while now but lately, it seems TNF forgot its technical roots. I am 5'9, 145 lbs and the small works for me, its a bit long but I prefer the extra coverage when skiing.
