Why We Like The Freethinker FUTURELIGHT Pant

It's hard to put all our focus on powdery descents when we're worrying about our shells freezing before the final turn. The North Face's Freethinker FUTURELIGHT Pant uses an innovative waterproof design to keep us comfortably covered in thigh-deep powder. Unlike most membranes that ventilate after we start sweating, FUTURELIGHT's air-permeable waterproof membrane starts breathing the moment we put the pants on, keeping us comfier when we hit the track running.

Comfortable, light ski pants for in and out of bounds skiing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am 6'1" 190 lbs. The Large is a comfortable, light pant with room for layers. I'd prefer a different color, I prefer black for pants since they get dirty often, the green is a bit too army/camo for me. The suspenders work well. The thigh pockets are roomy but may be a little too big and sloppy. The pressed exterior gusset at the bottom of the pocket often turns up, I am concerned that the crease will wear through over time. I would prefer that waist pockets were included. The gaters do not have any grommets to tie off under a boot, which would be nice when wearing hiking boots (older TNF pants had these on the gaters). The elastic of the gater is not tight enough for hiking boots and the hook at front does not hold down the back of the gater, allowing snow to pile in when deep in hiking boots.

Fit changed, but still highly functional and fashionable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I was skeptical about the color, the green really is a nice change. I would, however, love to TNF introduce some solid, neutral color jackets in the Steep Series, so we don't feel compelled to replace the pants. This year, is also the first year I've had to go up a size in the pants-only because the Medium seemed to fit very differently and tighter across the waist and zipper area. Almost like there was not enough material allotted between the belt line and the crouch. And yes, I double checked my own waistline and weight-and it wasn't me. :) Overall, the large pant is nice (albeit I roll the bottom once), very durable and blocks wind and wet weather very effectively. It's definitely worth the money is you're looking for gear that performs at a higher level and looks great.

Perfect fit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect fit. Very comfortable pant. I wish the suspenders were a little wider.

Great Pants for All Conditions

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Work as a ski instructor and these are my new pants for days when I'm not in uniform. I'm pretty particular when it comes to gear. Need the right blend of function, style, simplicity, and durability. These pants hit all the right notes. They're not fussy. They fit perfect (especially dig that I could get them in short length... I'm 5'8"). They are roomy enough for cold days when I double the base layer, but not baggy or saggy. They kept me 100% dry skiing all day in dumping snow. I was comfortable backcountry touring six hours in the sun. Highly recommend and plan to wear these pants for many years to come.
